The Incarnates of Magic are the main protagonists of Warhammer: The End Times. An incarnate of magic is the physical manifestation of one of the 8 types of magic of the Warhammer franchise, namely Light, Heaven, Metal, Life, Beast, Fire, Shadow, and Death. Each of these magics is bound to an individual who best represents it's qualities, often being the Avatar of a God qualifies. The duty of the Incarnates is to stop the invading Chaos armies from destroying the world.
Now you might think this is an obvious choice for a heroic team page. However, with all this said I should point out that not every Incarnate is a hero. Warhammer Fantasy is a very morally ambiguous/greying franchise where one person's hero is another person's villain. Sometimes heroes and villains even have to work together. But it's more complicated then a case of "The Enemy of My Enemy is my Friend." And the Incarnates are a prime example of this as two of them are actually very evil villains. I should probably introduce you to the Incarnates. Since this wiki is about heroes, I'll start with the heroic ones.
Karl Franz: Incarnate of Heaven. Karl Franz is the Emperor of the Empire of Man, the mightiest human nation in Warhammer. he is brave, courageous and wants to safegard his people from both internal and external threats.
Alarielle: Incarnate of Life. Alarielle is the Everqueen of the High Elves and quite probably the kindest character in the entire franchise. She only takes action against undead and demonic creatures.
Balthasar Gelt: Incarnate of Metal. The Supreme Patriarch of the College of Metal Magic, Balthasar Gelt is the youngest Patriarch to ever lead a magic college and he is constantly researching, looking for ways to uncover new sources of metal magic. That being said, like all Imperial magic orders, Gelt is devoted 100% to defending the Empire and it's people.
Tyrion: Incarnate of Life. Prince Tyrion of the High Elves, is the finest High Elf warrior and is devoted to protecting his people. That being said he became an Incarnate after he was ressurected after being slain as the Avatar of Khaine, the bloodthirsty Elven God of War. So he has the role of atoner.
Caradryan: Incarnate of Fire. The Captain of the Elven Phoenix King Guard, Caradryan abandoned his arrogant ways when he encountered the Elven God Asuryan. Though no one knows what exactly happened between them, it left him a changed Elf who perform his duties with silence and obedience.
OK, now for the evil incarnates. I'll go through them from least evil to most evil.
Grimgor Ironhide: Incarnate of Beast. One of the strongest and most feared Orc warchiefs, Grimgor Ironhide, like most Orcs cares little for good or evil. All that matters to him as a good fight. He joins the rest of the Incarnates because of the Demons of Chaos have their way, the world will be no more. And what better fight is there than fighting the armies of the apocolypse?
Malekith: Incarnate of Shadow. The Witch King of the Dark Elves, Malekith is a brutal tyrant who until the Chaos Invasion, only cared for conquoring the High Elf land of Ulthuan. However, through a series of complicated events, he winds up being one of the two elves(the other being Alarielle) who unites the Elves under one banner. He's still a cruel tyrant, but he's practical enough to to know that he'd lose more than he'd gain if this unity was broken and that the Demons are a threat. So he joins the other incarnates.
Nagash: Incarnate of Death. Undoubtably the most evil non Chaos character, Nagash is an undead lich who desires nothing more than godhood, and to turn the world into a land of undeath. In nearly every scene he's in in the game story, he acts like a Sauron like Dark Lord, constantly killing friends and enemies alike for failure or pleasure. He also taunts Alarielle and Tyrion about their daughter's death, murders a group of helpless slaves to become a Zombie army, and has no concept of love or friendship. The only reason he's with the other Incarnates is because he views the Chaos Gods as his enemies. But he does not oppose them to save the world, he opposes them with the intention of overthrowing them and becoming the God of Undeath. And yet despite all this, being an Incarnate, and therefore one of the only people who can stop the invasion, and therefore is among the worlds only hopes.
So, we have 4 people who have different hero categories, 1 person who cares only for combat, 1 person who's only doing this because of practicality, 1 person who's doing this only to become a god and kill everyone. As you'd imagine not all the Incarnates like eachother. Alarielle and Tyrion despise Nagash for murdering their daughter and consuming her soul, Alarielle and Malekith are not fond of eachother despite the fact that they were able to unify the elves, and even entered an arranged marriage to do so. And Karl and Balthesar dislike Grimgor for all the attacks he's made on their Empire. And yet, all of them understand that now is not the time for squabble. All of them are Incarnates of Magic and therefore are the worlds last hope to stop the Chaos invasion.
So, do you think that a team like this qualifies for this wiki?
