Supreme Leader Dessler is definitely one of my all time favorite redeemed villains turned anti-heroes of all time. Here's his theme music.
The Farmer's actual name is "Si" in the comics version of this episode. His only onscreen appearance is in the original Scooby Doo episode "Spooky Space Kook" where he is first seen confronting the Mystery Inc. gang with his shotgun as they wanted to buy gas from him, but he was hostile, mistaking them for reporters, who had been pestering him about the claims of the Spooky Space Kook and it's spaceship in the area. He then warned them about the Spooky Space Kook, making him a suspect until he called the Sheriff to help him put an end to the Spookt Space Kook case. The Farmer's name was finally cleared when the ghost was quickly unmasked as Henry Bascombe, his much meaner neighbor, who was trying to scare both the farmer and the Air Force into selling both their lands cheap.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Space Battleship Yamato, it is fondly remembered as one of the most influential science fiction pre-date Star Wars inspired anime series in Japan. The original 1974 series itself takes place in the year 2199, the valiant crew of the space battleship Yamato embarks on a dangerous voyage to the distant planet of Iscandar, to retrieve a device that will rejuvenate a war-ravaged Earth that was caused by a hostile alien race of warmongerers from the planet called Gamilas.
Have you guys seen or heard of "Miracle of the White Stallions"?
(In case you don't know):
"Miracle of the White Stallions" is a 1963 American adventure war film released by Walt Disney starring Robert Taylor (playing Colonel Alois Podhajsky the film's main protagonist, who's based off of the real man himself), Lilli Palmer, and Eddie Albert. It is based on the story of Operation Cowboy which was the evacuation of 70 Lipizzaner horses from the Spanish Riding School in Vienna and retrieval of 300 Lipizzaner horses from a breeding farm in Czechoslovakia. The prized Lipizzaner horses were Austrian national treasures in danger of being used for food supply by the advancing Soviet Army during World War II. To gain Patton's aid, Podhajsky and his team from the Spanish Riding School of Vienna perform for Patton with their Lipizzaner stallions a precision dressage exhibition and the individual "Airs Above the Ground" with the hope Patton will see the value of horses and help rescue the mares and foals in Czechoslovakia.
BTW... Here's a cool picture of Colonel Alois Podhajsky (Robert Taylor) astride a proud Lipizzaner horse.
