@JimmyNeutron33 I have to agree. I don’t really care how flawed a hero is, as long as they’re enjoyable and are capable of doing great things.
Since I talked about how an NPG can be equally admirable as PGs, I have an example of an IA who commits a lot of heroic deeds despite not being perfect: Iron Man from the MCU. Sure, he has a big ego and is a huge jerk (being even ruder than his comic counterpart), but it just makes him relatable as he is meant to show that even heroes have personal struggles to overcome. Outside of this, he has saved incalculable lives, especially by sacrificing himself to stop Thanos.
@Mesektet Opinion respected.
Personally, I enjoy characters with flaws because it shows that even if they’re not perfect, they can still do so many amazing things like saving the world or universe. And don’t get me wrong, characters taking their flaws out does appeal to me because character development makes for a great arc, but giving a hero a flaw makes them more human, relatable, interesting and compelling rather than having them be a Gary Stu 100% perfect protagonist.
Take for example, Sonic (in both the games and movies). He doesn’t subvert his arrogance or rudeness, but he shows that NPGs can be just as admirable as PGs.
