“ | "We shinobi spend our whole lives in battles. Fighting only for our villages. Our nations and ourselves. The hatred was consumed and led the world to three terrible wars!... I have lived longer than you, and I have learned more than you and it is because I understand the suffering that we have had in our lives, that I can think of a better way... To create our future!... This war is special! , now we fight, Together. AS ONE. When I look at you... I realize that we are not a simple antecedent... No... We are building on the horrible mistakes of the past... We are improving, slowly, but constantly, moving towards peace... Once I lost sight of who I really was... and it was all because of you damn... But this time I will rise up... And rediscover who I am!... Madara, you are the one who will fall..." | „ |
~ Determination of Onoki. |
Ōnoki was a character in the manga and anime series Naruto: Shippuden. He was the third Tsuchikage of the village hidden in the stones. He was trained by Mū (the Second Tsuchikage) and had fought Madara Uchiha years ago.
He was voiced Tomomichi Nishimura in the Japanese version, and by Steve Blum in English Version.
History[]
He was the Third Tsuchikage of the Hidden Stone Village and he is a powerful older man who has a jutsu called Atomic Dismantling Jutsu which gathers rocks to make a huge blast that can kill the opponent. His loyal partners are Akatsuchi and Onoki's granddaughter, Kurotsuchi. After Kaguya's defeat, He retired as Tsuchikage due to his powers getting weaker with old age, and his granddaughter Kurotsuchi succeeded him, becoming the Fourth Tsuchiage.
As shown in Boruto, Ōnoki's retirement years aren't kind for him. The deaths of many young citizens of his village, including his grandson, during Iwagakure's pyrrhic victory against a group of missing-nin sees him revisiting a jutsu as an alternative to shinobi protecting his village, devising the creatures to do the fighting so humans would remain safe and unharmed. Despite Kurotsuchi's disapproval, Ōnoki continues his research in solitude and makes a significant progress with aid of White Zetsu remains and cloning technology which still in its infancy, creating Kū and his fellow Fabrications in process. Unfortunately, the Fabrications gradually turn against him and the rest of Iwagakure as they worked on perfecting them, with Boruto Uzumaki and co. who inevitably got caught in this sordid affair because of Fabrications kidnapping Mistuki doesn't help either. Having seen his errors, Ōnoki join forces with Boruto and co. to undo his mistakes and defeat Kū along the way. Ōnoki ended up dying a hero after exerting himself too much, but not before reaffirming Boruto and co. that one must always hold on to their will but not despair if they lose their way. To preserve his reputation as his people would likely divisive if they learned the truth and acknowledged his redemption, a cover up stories where Kū's forces had nothing to do with Ōnoki and that the former Tsuchikage passed away from health-related issues are made.
