The 11th Commander is a minor character in the manga and anime, Attack on Titan. He was a former commander of the Survey Corps, who preceded Keith Shadis.
Appearance[]
The 11th Commander was a man who appeared to be in his mid 40s, with clear wrinkles around his mouth and forehead. He also had receding black hair that he kept shaved.
He was seen wearing a standard Survey Corps long coat during meetings, but he didn’t appear to wear an bolo tie that all other commanders normally wear.
Personality[]
Despite having never been once seen speaking, the 11th Commander appears to be noticeably more compliant and submissive to his officials compared to Keith Shadis and Erwin Smith. As he was seen humbly taking in all the harsh criticism thrown at him.
Furthermore, being the commander of the Survey Corps. The 11th Commander was presumably a very valiant man who dedicated himself to advance humanity forward.

The 11th Commander was born somewhere within the Walls. At some point in his youth, he joined the military and would after graduating, join the Survey Corps.
He was able to rise through the ranks all the way up until he eventually became a commander.
The 11th Commander would organize and lead numerous expeditions outside the Walls, while also trying to establish humanity's first base inside Titan territory. Despite this, his expeditions like with all the others usually resulted in high casualties amongst the Survey Corps soldiers.
During a meeting with the Survey Corps’ funders, the 11th Commander was criticized for the Survey Corps’ constant loses and lack of progress, which continued to damage their reputation with the organization’s outside financers. But the Commander was seen humbly taking in the judgement without protest.
The 11th Commander would at some point in time succeed with the development and creation of the base beyond the Walls, which presumably boosted the Survey Corps’ progress for a while.
During an unknown expedition outside the Walls, the 11th Commander was caught and devoured by a Titan. Keith Shadis would then succeed him as the next Commander.
