While the game provides only hints at A.J.'s background, the animated trailer implies that he hails from a distant and technologically advanced alien civilization, looking for more prone success in gaining profit, which he then finds himself on earth due to unknown circumstances that caused his vehicle to crash into a swamp where Bud was made to repair the ship, where A.J then found himself analysing the area in a swamp and analyses much of it's resources and nutrients showing distaste over compairing it to his homeworld which implements.
