Biography[]
The Broken Ear[]
The Arumbaya chief tells Tintin that long ago, in the 1800's, an explorer named A.J. Walker arrived at their jungle to study on the Arumbaya tribe. After gaining the trust of the tribe, they showed him an ancient diamond, the Heart of the Jungle, who claimed it to have magical medicine powers. However, Lopez, his San Theodoran guide, stole the diamond and concealed it in the Idol of the Broken Ear, causing the tribe to chase after Walker's expedition, but Lopez manages to escape while panicking before the Arumbays could attack him. Walker is left behind with the idol, who brings it to Europe. He then wrote a book Travels in the Americas in 1875, where he would recollect his experiences with the Arumbayas. He then dies in an unknown date before the events of the main story.
Trivia[]
