“ | With us taking the role of the avatar, Z may well seize upon it to gain power. What we did, and all that concerns Origin, will become but a dim memory... Nevertheless, our intentions will live on, and one day coalesce again. Be it tomorrow...or in a thousand years... Surely, the time will eventually come. I can see it, clear as day. | „ |

~ A's departing words. |
A (Japanese: エイ, Ei) is the deuteragonist of Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed. A is a mysterious individual that served one of the original members of the first Ouroboros, following the destruction of the original City. A was originally one of the three Aegis core crystals known as Ontos, before being transported to a different world and would become the being known as Alvis.
Upon the creation of Aionios, Ontos had split into two separate beings; Alpha being a heartless machine that views the old life of humanity as obsolete and desires to recreate the world with the new life, while A being Alvis' human conscience who retains his memories of the time he had spent with Shulk and desires to preserve all life, ensuring everyone has a future to move forward to.
A is voiced by Rina Sato and Rosie Day in the Japanese and English versions of the game, respectively.
Personality[]
A acts as a stoic individual, remaining relatively calm and composed even in the most dangerous situations. A acts as a guidance of Matthew in a way, ensuring he stays on track of his tasks and not to interfere with matters that do not concern them. Because of their serious demeanour, A tends to take things literal, often correcting Matthew on his observations and his grammar. Despite this, A acknowledges how hard and determined Matthew is on finding survivors and restoring the City, holding respect for him as such.
A rarely expresses any other emotions beyond their indifferent nature and shows no issues with working with others, so long as everything works out in their favour. Due to them possessing Alvis' original memories however, A retains a sense of morality and desires to protect all life in Aionios. As such, A wants to ensure that their other self, Alpha, does not succeed in eliminating the people of Aionios. For this reason, A possesses a sense of familiarity with Shulk with and remains on friendly terms with him.

Trivia[]
- While A is given a distinct feminine voice and appearance, A is never referred as female by any of the characters in game, unlike their counterpart Alpha, who is referred as male.
- It is later explained that Ontos was somewhere between the male persona of Logos and the female persona of Pneuma, suggesting the form that A takes is in response to their influence.
- Despite this, A's gender value in the game's coding is listed as 1, which is the value given to identify female characters. The official artwork book, Xenoblade 3 Official Artworks Aionios Moments, would later support this by referring A as a woman.
