Adaline Pratt is the main protagonist of the seven-issue comic of the Crossed, Family Values. She is the daughter of Joe Pratt who became the leader of several members of his group after his death and the destruction of their camp because of the Crossed.
History[]
Adaline was born as the oldest daughter of Joseph and Joyce Pratt, she started riding the horses that were on her family's ranch, becoming very good at doing it. One day, she went to talk to a shoe shop owner named Max, whom she asked if she saw her sister Emily.
Max told her that she was with her father, and also told her to waste her shoes and to be careful. Adaline then found her father and Emily, and she understood that Emily was raped by Joe, to comfort her, she told her mother to give Emily a glass of orange juice, although she refused. Understanding this, Adaline conforted her father and told him to stop raping Emily, provoking Joe into beating her, and almost raping her before a group of ranchers told Joe that they needed his help.
Adaline then would understand that she was fulish to face her father like that, and then found a group of Crossed attacking her family's ranch, understanding this, Adaline went to look for Emily, whom she found being raped by a crossed Max and was turned into a crossed herself.
After this, Adaline kills Max and refused to kill Emily and tried to convinced her to stay away, but Emily doesn't and attempts to kill her before Joe shoots Emily and saves Adaline due to her usefulness. The Pratt Family escaped the ranch with most of its members surviving.
For the next months, her father would create a community called The New Paradise, and brought as many people they found to create a large community. One day, Adaline killed a man by shooting him and allowing him to get killed by the Crossed in order to make sure the community wouldn't get attacked by the Crossed.
After this, she met up with her brothers Matthew and Joseph, and they told her that a town they found was infested with Crossed, and she lashed out at Joseph for thinking that the town's church wasn't filled with Crossed, but Matthew told her to be more nicer to Joseph as he saw a priest rape several women and children alongside other crossed, causing Adaline to feel pitty for him.
They would then go to The New Paradise and inform their father about the Crossed, and he showed them that he had been experimenting on, but he told them to get out of that place after it started singing about his secrets.They then have a dinner with the rest of their family with the exception of Eyleen, whom Joe told was occopied.
Adaline would them go on a search mission to see where the Crossed where and how close they were to the community, but before she asked where Eyleen was, but Joe refused to tell her. During the search, she realized that this was similar how Joe raped Emily, so she went back to the community and found her father and her sister Hannah having sex.
After Adaline told her father to show her Emily, Joe reveals that he raped her and she infected herself with the C-Virus and became a Crossed to avoid having to leave her life raising a rape child. Adaline, angered by this, tried to kill Joe, but he knocks her out and imprisons her.
Before this, Adaline taunted Joe that he never raped her because she would kill him if he did, and he did what she told him he wouldn't do simply to spite Adaline. After a few hours, her mother appeared and gave her food, and Adaline asked her how she could tolerate her father's atrocities.
Joyce then tried to talk to Joe, whom he told was going to infect her with the C-virus after she asked her if it was necessary for him to rape Adaline. To protect her daughter, Joyce infected herself with the virus and killed Joe. Adaline then escaped and put the crossed Eyleen out of her misery after she saw her eating her newborn child.
Right after this, a group of Crossed attacked The New Paradise and destroyed it, but Adaline is able to escape thanks to her friend Kate. In the next few months, they found a group of survivors, including a man named Jethro Tully, who started dating Hannah. The group would then find a group of people who tried to rob them and killed two of the members of her group.
To make sure her group would escape, Adaline went to fight the grouo while the others ran away from the fight, Adaline was nearly killed, but was saved by her brothers, who appeared and killed the group. Joseph would then go to see what was left of The New Paradise to make sure if there was still something useful there, while the rest stayed in a hospital to take care of Kate, who got pregnant.
During this, one of the members of the group went insane and holded her youngest brother Eli hostage, while Matthew tried to stop her from doing it, but he fails and she shoots Eli. In a fit of rage, Adaline kicked the woman to death, and Adaline and Matthew would then bury both of their bodies, and Matthew comforted her over Eli's death.
They would later go back to the New Paradise to look for Joseph, and they found out that their mother was still alive, and Joseph was turned into a crossed, so Adaline decided to put them out of their misery, but Joyce survived and joined a group of Crossed to go after Adaline and her family. After Kate was about to give birth to her child, Joyce's group of Crossed appeared, so they had to hide from them.
During this, Jethro was turned into a crossed and later killed, and Kate was killed as a mercy because she didn't want to get infected by the Crossed and she couldn't run. Joyce then bit Matthew, but Adaline cuts his leg to save her brother and imediatly kills her mother right after that, putting an end to her misery. Matthew, Hannah, Kate's newborn child, and Adaline then went to a house the next to stay for a while, Adaline went for a patrol to see if there were any supplies or Crossed closed to the house.
Adaline was depressed and believed that it would be sooner or later for the Crossed to appear, and the comic ends as she gets happier after finding two of the horses of her family's ranch, and believing there was still hope because of this.
