Aello, Ocypete and Celaeno are triplet Harpy sisters from Greek mythology. They served as guardians, protectors and messengers of the gods. All harpies including the three sisters are creatures of divine punishment, force of cosmic order and spirits retribution.
History[]
The three triplets are the daughters of the sea god Thaumas and the Oceanid named Electra. Each of the triplets have different meanings for their names Aello's name means "storm swift" while Ocypete's name means "swift wing" and Celaeno's name means "the dark". In one Greek story the Harpy sisters for tell the prophecies of the Greek hero named Aeneas.
In another story the Harpy triplets encounter the Boreads who chases after them. As they are being chased Ocypete the swiftest grows tired and rest on a near by island as Boreads approaches Ocypete prays for the gods to save her. As Ocypete rest and prays to the gods they answer her pray and save her from Boreads.
Aside from being protectors, messengers and giving out prophecies the Harpy sisters are known to be tricksters and mischief makers this is mentioned when the sisters abduct people on their way to Tartarus. Aside from playing tricks and causing mischief the sisters were also tasked to punish bad mortals under the orders of the gods and gpddesses.
As sisters the three of them share a bond with each where they lookout and care for one another. Aello, Ocypete and Celaeno are not the only children that Thaumas and Electra they have many more children that happen to be monsters as well accept the rest of Thaumas and Electra's children are not harpies like the other three.
The three sisters are tasked with caring out punishment on wicked humans who done bad things. Aside from punishing mortals who have done wrong the harpies are up holders of oaths, justice and sacred laws.
