~ Aisha to Yasmine in Different but Same |
Aisha Robinson is a recurring character in Season 1, and in Season 2 of Cobra Kai. She is a former bullied student who joins the Cobra Kai Dojo, becoming the second student of the new generation of Cobra Kai. She is the best friend of Sam LaRusso.
She is portrayed by Nichole Brown.
Biography[]
Aisha has a father, Isaiah, who was a famous athlete. Both she and Sam were friends when they were younger. At some point, their friendship was strained when Sam befriended the popular crowd, though the two are still on good terms. Outside of Sam, Aisha doesn't have any known friends. Aisha is often bullied because of her weight, and for a lot, her looks. Another factor in Aisha's life is that her father is not encouraging her to relive his sports career, instead nurturing her own interests, at one point praising her for creating a robot. While it is positive for her to have supportive parents, her interests are usually not shared among her peers and further push her into the outskirts of the school cliques. Aisha's aptitude also gained the attention of Daniel LaRusso, who believes she was more of a true friend and better influence on his daughter than her later clique, even wishing that Samantha was at robot camp with Aisha instead of partying at his home.
Cobra Kai[]
Season 1[]
Aisha encounters Daniel and Amanda LaRusso at a party at the Encino Oaks Country Club. She asks about Sam's presence, but Amanda lies and tells her she is visiting her grandmother to avoid hurting Aisha's feelings.
At school, Aisha approaches Sam with the idea of going to the dance as Sodium and Chloride, respectively, but Sam tells her that she had already planned on going with Yasmine and Moon as Laker Girls. Sam offers to order another costume so that Aisha can join them, but Yasmine cruelly rebuffs her on account of her size. At the Halloween school dance, Aisha dresses up as Sodium. Later that night, Yasmine tags Aisha in a post and names her a cruel pig as a meme for her eating Cheetos during the Halloween dance. Aisha is immediately humiliated while Sam watches in silence, causing a hurt Aisha to leave the dance while the other students laugh.
Tired of being bullied, Aisha heads to the Cobra Kai dojo and asks to join. Their sensei, Johnny Lawrence, isn't interested as the dojo never had a female in the team. He is also reluctant to train a girl in the ways of Cobra Kai, but Miguel convinces him to give her a chance while mentioning that she could be a faithful student if her father is paying for the lessons. In turn, Johnny orders him to attack Aisha with full force, and an apologetic Miguel kicks her to the ground. However, Aisha responds by tackling Miguel and delivering a brutal knee drop to his midsection, solidifying her status as "a natural Cobra."
When the tables turn on Samantha after she finds out her boyfriend Kyler was a lying cheat, Kyler retaliates by slandering Samantha by using her father's vandalized billboard as a reference throughout the school, making her an embarrassment to everyone except Miguel. Aisha also unsympathetically turns her back on Samantha, figuring it served her right for her earlier ostracism. Shortly, Miguel manages to use his Cobra Kai skills to take on Kyler and his gang while Aisha cheers him on. The fight footage quickly goes viral and attracts a large number of prospective students, including Eli, Demetri, Bert, to the dojo.
She is present when Johnny scolds several new students causing several of them including Demetri to quit, Eli becomes Hawk when he flips the script, and when Miguel asks about where he and Sam can go to on their friendly outing in which Aisha states that her and Sam aren't in good terms. She continues to train with Cobra Kai for the upcoming All Valley Under 18 Tournament, including training at a junkyard. She later goes to the movies with Miguel and Hawk where Miguel vents to them about not being able to see Sam due to Daniel's hatred of Cobra Kai.
One day while hanging out with Miguel, Hawk, Demetri, and Bert, she gets cyber-bullied from Yasmine through Facebook and comes up with the idea of crashing her birthday party at the canyon later that night. During the party, she and Moon make amends after Moon apologizes to her for bullying her, and she gets her revenge on Yasmine by giving her a painful front wedgie, thus humiliating her in front of everyone.
During the All-Valley tournament, Aisha reaches the quarterfinals where she loses to the defending champion Xander Stone. Following her loss, Sam congratulates her. While Aisha is hostile with her at first, she seemingly forgives Samantha after she apologizes to her and tells her, her revenge against Yasmine was great. The two then laugh about Aisha's revenge against Yasmine. Aisha encourages her to get back into karate. After Miguel wins the finals against Robby Keene leading to Cobra Kai's victory, Aisha along with the other Cobra Kai students cheer.
Season 2[]
Aisha and Cobra Kai students celebrates their victory at a Mexican restaurant and shares a live-stream video on Instagram, with her hanging out with Hawk, Demetri, Moon, and Miguel, who is distracted by the fact that Samantha has blocked him on her social media. Aisha and Hawk attempt to comfort Miguel, but it's useless. At the dojo, Johnny switched Aisha and the rest of the students to white belts. Upon their departure, Aisha crosses paths with Sam in the parking lot who asks if she wants to hang out. Aisha turns her down as she has to go to Hawk's house for their Cobra Kai homework, however invites Samantha to come with them, which she turns down, and leaves.
On another day at the dojo where a couple new students including, Mitch, Chris, Nathaniel, and several others joining the team and John Kreese observing the whole thing, Aisha and the senior students started goofing off. This leads a furious Johnny to create a new exercise of his own as punishment: Ordering his students to climb inside a cement truck and turn the mixer themselves. Aisha watches when Miguel, Hawk, Mitch, Chris, and few others pushing the cement drum together.
Despite forgiving Sam at the tournament, she still has somewhat of a grudge against her, even though Sam wants to fix their friendship. She is even mad at Sam when Daniel attacks the Cobra Kai dojo in his Miyagi-Do Karate commercial. She eventually informs Miguel and Johnny, who were having dinner together at a diner, about Miyagi-Do doing a demonstration at Valley Fest. During Miyagi-Do's performance, Cobra Kai crashes the demonstration and starts doing their own demo. Aisha participates by breaking boards while wearing blindfolds.
Following the events of the All-Valley Vest, a couple more recruits, including Tory Nichols and Raymond, joins the team. Aisha befriends Tory and asks if she'll accompany her to the beach club, where her mother, Sandra, is undermining Daniel's efforts at promoting Miyagi-Do by showing off footage of the Cobra Kai demonstration at Valley Fest. She approaches Sam and confronts her for her father's ad while Sam states that Daniel's trying to do the right thing. During a pool party, Tory steals some alcohol and the two drink, much to Sam's disapproval. She tells Tory about Yasmine with Tory praising Aisha for getting revenge on her. Later, when Sam accuses Tory of stealing her mom's wallet, the two get into a brief fight. Aisha is dismayed at Sam for making such an accusation without any viable proof.
Aisha is later shown eating at a Mexican restaurant with the Cobra Kai's and Moon. When Moon sees an Instagram photo of Yasmine in Paris, Aisha angrily tells Moon to "tell her stay in France." She is present when Daniel confronts Johnny and accuses him trashing his dojo which results in several students (including Chris and Nathaniel) defecting to Miyagi Do and when Kreese takes over while Johnny is out of town.
Cobra Kai does an exercise training at Coyote Creek with Aisha, Hawk, and Raymond (now known as Stingray) with Kreese's team while Miguel, Tory, and Mitch are with Johnny's team. Aisha eventually loses a match against her own teammate during the training exercise. She watches the duel between Miguel and Hawk and when Stingray attacks Miguel and wins the event.
Aisha, along with the Cobra Kai's, attends Moon's party and sees that she invited the Miyagi-Do's. During the party, Aisha approaches a drunken Sam and tries to tell her to stop drinking, who in turn accuses her of trashing the Miyagi-Do Dojo, which Aisha denies, and also states that Miguel and Tory had nothing to do with it either. She then tells Sam that Miguel returned Miyagi's Medal of Honor which shocks Sam as she saw that Demetri found it himself. When Sam appears to be dizzy, Aisha shows concern for her, showing that she still cares for her. Aisha watches when Demetri roasts Hawk in front of everyone leading to an almost brawl between the two dojos before the police arrive enforcing everyone to flee.
The following morning, Aisha messages Sam asking her if she is okay, but unbeknownst to her, Sam's parents Daniel and Amanda see her message on Sam's computer and finds out her being drunk. Outside the school building, she and Miguel voice their concern over hearing nothing from Tory. When the fight at West Valley School between Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do occurs, Aisha tries to stop Sam and Tory from fighting, but when a boy attacks her, she fights back and beats him up.
Aisha is last seen staring down at an unconscious Miguel after he was kicked off the second floor balcony. She isn't present when Kreese takes over the dojo, possibly indicating that she has not sided with him, showing that she is possibly no longer a Cobra Kai student.
Season 3[]
After the events of the school fight, Aisha's parents disenroll her from West Valley High School and sold out their house. They transfer her to a private school up north, separating her from Sam and the rest of her karate influences. The transfer also resulted her to quit her membership at Cobra Kai. When the school reopens two weeks after the fight where Yasmine asks about Aisha, Moon states that she was transferred. Yasmine considers it good news while Moon expresses that she feels bad about Sam losing her childhood friend.
Season 4[]
One day, Aisha is visited by Sam in her new home in Santa Barbara. She has gained her weight back and quit karate altogether, though she has retained her lessons from Cobra Kai and uses it in a much less violent way. It is also revealed that the reason why Aisha moved to Santa Barbara was not because of the high school brawl, but because of her dad having gotten a job offer at UC Santa Barbara he couldn't refuse. This also implies that Aisha decided to not go to West Valley anymore due to the chaos that was involved. Sam tells her about Tory going back to West Valley High after being expelled and Daniel and Amanda wants her to be okay with it but she is not ready for it. Aisha explained how she had a friendlier approach to her new classmate. She advises Sam to try to make peace with Tory instead of resorting to violence. She tells her that she still applied Johnny's teachings when she moved. She also tells Sam that she will still be her original friend. She ends saying that Sam needs to confront her problems.
Season 6[]
Aisha reveals to Sam through a text that she got in into UC Santa Cruz. Sam informs this to Miguel, Hawk, and Demetri while they were getting ready for training at Miyagi-Do.

Trivia[]
- Aisha is one of the only characters on Cobra Kai who is friendly with both Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence during the beginning of the series before the two eventually ended their rivalry. She is also one of the few Cobra Kai's to not be corrupted by Kreese or attack the Miyagi Do Dojo.
- She is the first female student to be a member of Cobra Kai Dojo. Her enrollment made it possible for many future Cobra Kai's to become members. Moreover, her enrollment changed Johnny's mind on female students, making female Eagle Fang dojo members possible.
- Aisha's absence is explained by her moving to a private school after the high school fight. Behind the scenes, the writers failed to fit Aisha into the storylines and instead, had the character make a cameo appearance in Season 4.
