Ajax, better known as Tartaglia and by his codename Childe, is a major antagonist and playable character in the 2020 action role-playing fantasy video game Genshin Impact.
He is voiced by Yu Dong in the Chinese version, Ryohei Kimura in the Japanese version and Griffin Burns in the English version.
Synopsis[]

Born as Ajax, being the third son[1], Tartaglia is an older brother to Teucer, Anton, and Tonia. When he was 14 years old, Ajax accidentally fell into the Abyss, training himself with a swordswoman named "Skirk." Due to his love for battles, Tartaglia was enlisted to join the Fatui, the diplomats of Snezhnaya. Pulcinella, the 5th of the Harbingers was impressed by his immense skills in combat, and thus he joined in the 11th Fatui Harbingers as the youngest yet one of the most powerful members among the ranks. His Delusion was personally pinned by Pierro, the First Fatuus.
Though first introduced as an ally to the Traveler in finding the real murderer of Rex Lapis, the Traveler discovers that Tartaglia has ulterior motives. After being manipulated by Zhongli and La Signora into attempting to steal the Gnosis from Rex Lapis' false body as well as awakening the Overlord of the Vortex, Osial, Tartaglia is last seen in Liyue avoiding his little brother Teucer. He repeatedly attempts to hide his connections with Fatui before eventually returning to his homeland.
Ajax is spotted once again at Inazuma. While the Traveler, Shiki Taishou and Xinyan headed to Mystic Onmyou Chamber, he joined their exploration. Delving deeper into the domain and fighting their way towards the end, he reveals his purpose to the Traveler as to find the sixth Fatui harbinger, Scaramouche, but failed therein as Scaramouche went rogue and cut ties with the Fatui. Instead of hunting down the Electro Gnosis, Ajax travels around Inazuma as he was also requested by Teucer to find an Onikabuto in Chinju Forest, whence he sees a child heading straight to the monsters and he quickly takes them all out without using his Delusion nor Foul Legacy.
In Fontaine, Tartaglia gave up his Vision to the Traveler after losing control of its powers suddenly and knocking out another person in one hit. Despite Neuvillette considers him innocent, an AI judicative, known as Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale, defies him guilty. He was then arrested to the Fortress of Meropide, but he escaped in concurrence with Act IV, Chpater IV, fighting against the All-Devouring Narwhal, Ptahur. Then and there, after using up his stamina, he was rescued by his mentor, Skirk.

- In appearance, Tartaglia was loosely inspired by Kevin Kaslana from Honkai Impact 3rd when he was younger (and whom is currently the leader of the maleficent World Serpent) before the arrival of Herrscher of the End and the destruction of the Previous Era.
- Like other Harbinger members from Fatui, Tartaglia's name was derived from the the Italian commedia dell'arte. In the show, Tartaglia is a stock character with multiple roles depending on the story's plot. The character is notable for his unique farsightedness and stutter.
- Tartaglia is the youngest of the Harbingers but was considered to be one of the deadliest members yet.
- His constellation is Monocerus Caeli (Latin for "Celestial Narwhal", a medium-sized toothed whale that possesses a large "tusk" from a protruding canine tooth).
- Tartaglia's special dish is "A Prize Catch".
- Ajax adopted a false role of "toy salesman" to his brother to hide viciosity as a Fatui Harbinger.
- Ajax became a playable character following the release of Version 1.1 of Genshin Impact, wielding a bow as a 5-star unit.
- Childe is the first Enemy of Note to be made as a playable character, followed by Raiden Shogun, Scaramouche, and The Knave.
