That's Joryu-san, the secret pervert for ya.
~ Akame introducing Kiryu to the homeless.

Akame is a major supporting character of Sega's 2023 beat 'em up video game Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, the second installment of the Like a Dragon Saga.

She was a former ambitious singer in Sotenbori who unfortunately did not make it to success. After retiring, she then became the city's jack-of-all-trades, who befriended a lot of homeless people in the city, they together formed Akame Network with her.

She was modeled after and voiced by First Summer Uika. In the English dub, she was voiced by Holly Chou.

Personality[]

Akame possesses an extremely upbeat and easy-going personality, therefore, she could get along with all kinds of people, from introverted ones like Kiryu or even the random homeless people. Because of her kindness, many homeless people wanted to connect to her and together formed Akame Network, in order to acquire any information regarding Sotenbori.

She also shows her hidden passion of singing, considering she used to be a singer. Although she has retired for a long time, she was still extremely ambitious and is willing to participate in any singing events, notably when she sang Like a Butterfly with Kiryu.

History[]

Her background was unknown, but as far as we know, she first moved to Sotenbori as a singer who tried to make her singing career. She frequently did her performances in the street. Despite her extreme ambition, she did not get much recognition and appreciation. However, one day, when a homeless man bought a CD from her with his fellow homeless friends. She got emotional and befriended many of them. This resulted in Akame Network.

She first appeared when a regular client of hers named Yuki Tsuruno informed Kazuma Kiryu about her existence, Kiryu then came to her so that he could get sufficient information to defeat the Kijin Clan, as well as to try to disband the yakuza way of life via Great Dissolution. She also actively aided him in his missions and heroic journey, as well as giving him requests from the citizens of Sotenbori, so that he could help them.

When Masaru Watase was released from prison, she also agreed to help the family, along with Kihei Hanawa, to aid them in the Great Dissolution, as well as to defeat Homare Nishitani III once and for all. After Nishitani III's defeat, she also provided Kiryu a new suit for the Great Dissolution.

Trivia[]

  • The name "Akame" can be translated as "red eyes" in English. This is also why the Akame Network's logo represents a red eye, as well as her version of Like a Butterfly is called "Red Eyes Edition"
  • Tsuyoshi Kanda, a major antagonist of Yakuza 3, is likely to have the similar role as her in the upcoming Kiwami 3's side story Dark Ties, as they both share the same "network" which the players can access and accept substories.
