|“||Special-type destroyer, 'Akebono'. Hey! Don't look at me, you shitty Admiral!||„|
Akebono (曙 "Daybreak"?) was the eighteenth of twenty-four Fubuki-class destroyers, built for the Imperial Japanese Navy following World War I. When introduced into service, these ships were the most powerful destroyers in the world. They served as first-line destroyers through the 1930s, and remained formidable weapons systems well into the Pacific War.
Akebono has purple eyes and very long purple hair in a side ponytail. She wears a hair flower and hair bell at the place where it is tied. She wear a school uniform in serafuku-style like the other 3. She also typically wears black legwear and loafers outside of her combat gear.
Her combat gear includes a backpack-like smokestack and tripod mast, with a boxy, twin-cannon turret held with both hands, and carried over a shoulder strap. Her shoes are armored, and she wears dual torpedo turrets on her thighs, like many in the Fubuki-class.
For many, Akebono is an odd ship. She's very verbally abusive, & unlike Michishio or Kasumi who have gentler sides, she never really seems to be appreciative. However, her history may have been a basis for this.
To begin with, Akebono doesn't really stand out favorably in history. Unlike her sister Ushio, Akebono is taken as the 'ship of misfortune,' while Ushio is the 'ship of fortune.'
