| ~ Akira to John Wick. |
Akira Shimazu is a supporting character in John Wick: Chapter 4. She is the daughter of Koji Shimazu who serves as the concierge of the Continental Hotel in Osaka and also works as an assassin who reluctantly sides with John Wick in his battle against the High Table.
She was portrayed by Rina Sawayama.
Personality[]
Akira is an elegant yet menacing young woman who's very serious about her role as the concierge of the Osaka Continental, as she refused to accept Mr. Nobody's Belgian Malinois into the hotel as per the rules, although she is soon convinced to make an exception for them under the condition that Mr. Nobody would now allow his dog to leave his room. Akira strongly opposed her father's decision to allow John Wick to take refuge within their Continental, knowing they and their loved ones would face punishment from the High Table for providing assistance to an excommunicado. Despite her ruthlessness when killing opponents, she loves her family deeply, being devastated and horrified upon witnessing her father being murdered right before her eyes at the hands of Caine and blaming John for his death afterwards. In spite of the anger she held towards him, Akira made John promise that he would kill Caine to give Koji justice. Upon learning John had apparently died in his duel against Caine, Akira grew hungry for vengeance like never before decided to track down Caine and kill him herself.
Abilities[]
- Expert Martial Artist: During the assault at the Osaka Continental, Akira demonstrated her abilities as a highly skilled martial artist, as she dispatched and killed some of Chidi's elite enforcers on her own. The arts she incorporates into her fighting style include Karate, Judo, Jiu-jitsu, Tantojutsu, Shorinji Kempo and Kyudo.
- Expert Archer: Akira's main weapon in combat is a bow, even in situations that require close-quarters combat. She is able to quickly fire multiple arrows at once with extreme accuracy.
- Bilingualism: Akira is capable of speaking fluent English as well as her native Japanese.
- Agility: Being an assassin, Akira is extremely swift and agile. She dishes out her attacks and dodges strikes from her opponents elegantly in combat and with relative ease.

Trivia[]
- In an interview with Director Chad Stahelski, he states that in an alternate post-credits' scene that was cut from the final project, Akira actually succeeded in killing Caine. This was scrapped due it being "too much" and Stahelski preferred the cut to black, though it is unknown whether this is considered canon or not.
- Much like Katia, Akira might be an analogy of one of the Erinyes in Greek Mythology. Erinyes, also known as Furies, are goddesses and female deities of vengeance who reside in the underworld and are sent to the mortal realm to punish those who had committed crimes.
