Akira Tendo is the main protagonist of the adventure horror anime and manga series Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead. He is one of the survivors of a zombie apocalypse that started in Tokyo, in Japan and used to be an overworking worker for a certain company.
He is voiced by Shuuichirou Umeda in the present, by You Taichi in his youth in Japanese. In English, he is voiced by Zeno Robinson in the present and by Anjali Kunapaneni in his youth. In the live action movie, he is played by Eiji Akaso and translated by Paul Dateh in the English version.
Appearance[]
Akira Tendou is a young man in his mid-20s with short black hair. During his time as an office worker, he wore a white office suit with striped turquoise and a black necktie. During the zombie apocalypse, he now wears a green jacket with a white shirt underneath, dark pants, and a pair of lime running shoes.
At the aquarium, he finds himself a diver blue suit whom he decides to wear it in order to save some surviving civilians who were running always from some who were just zombified while declaring himelf as Akiraiger (his self-proclaimed superhero name). The suit (a shark-proof suit) protects his entire body from getting bitten by zombies. His face is covered by glass and his mouth, by a respiratory mask.
Personality[]
Akira often expressed joy and excitement upon starting his job as an office worker, not realizing the potential path he is taking. Having harbored positive outlook on life, filled with aspirations and optimistic perspectives, this view is drastically changed into dark tone when he is constantly overworking, resulting in him to depressed and immense stress. A somewhat bright destiny however changed this path when a zombie apocalypse is spreaded across the country, ending Akira's dark path of working. Now happy once again, he decides to take on a journey to complete his 100 list of goals to achieve before being possibly turning into a zombie himself.
As things seem to go like nothing he witnessed when he was an office worker, he is confronted by Gonzô Kosugi, his former chief who blackmails him in order to have him work for him again. Akira began to witness a blackout numerous time when he is abused by Gonzô as he screams and also told Shizuka that he does not remember anything that Gonzô has yelled at him. Despite all the harsh impact Gonzô has gave him, Akira still had the heart to save his boss's life from the zombies and is even deemed as a better leader than Gonzô according to the one working for him, leading them to abandon Gonzô. Due to being to scaried to overcome his boss, Akira is easily manipulated and had no choice but to continue work for him as he declares this to his friends. His decision did not change until Shizuka manage to convince him with his bucket list notebook.
Akira has hardly ever expressed any anger in his life whether it during his office or getting yelled by Gonzô. Even as he refused to continue working for him, he still maintained his cheerful attitude toward the man with a bright expression. In meeting Beatrix Amerhauser, a foreign survivor who traveled to his country from Germany, he expresses the same interest as her love for shushi and is grateful for her immense love toward his country.
Akira's Bucket List[]
About a day later after the zombie apocalypse had started, Akira decided to write down a list of 100 things that he wishes to do before dying or turning into a zombie. This was later on be the same case for Kenichirou Ryuuzaki, then Shizuka Mikazuki and finally for one of their final ally, Beatrix Amerhauser.
