Alain is the main playable character and protagonist of the 2024 tactical roleplaying game Unicorn Overlord. He is the prince of the fallen Cornia who strikes on the quest to fight against the forces of Galerius in order to reclaim his throne as king of Cornia.
He is voiced by Kazuki Ura in Japanese and Kylen Deporter in English.
History[]
Entry 1[]
Alain, crown prince of the fallen kingdom of Cornia and son of Queen Ilenia, lost his mother during Valmore's rebellion. In the aftermath, he was taken to the Isle of Palevia by Josef, who trained him in swordsmanship and strategy until the age of 17.
Entry 2[]
Following the Zenoiran army’s assault on Palevia, Alain set out to form the Liberation Army, rising as its leader. Vowing to reclaim Cornia and crush Zenoira, he ignited a war that would engulf the continent.
Entry 3[]
Under his command, the Liberation Army liberated the Walled City of Eucuit, securing Scarlett’s safety in the process. Their victory bolstered their reputation across the streets of Fevrith.
Entry 4[]
In a hard-fought battle, Alain and Gilbert reclaimed Castle Soldraga, the seat of Drakenhold royalty, from Zenoiran control. Leaving the kingdom’s reconstruction to its people, the Liberation Army pressed forward.
Entry 5[]
With Yahna’s guidance, Alain traversed the Winding Wood of Elheim and forged an alliance with Rosalinde, the elven augur. Together, they reclaimed Laurhal and freed Eltolinde from Zenoira’s Magick of Control.
Entry 6[]
Alain continued his campaign in Elheim, clashing with formidable foes—Gailey, Baltro, and Alcina. In the end, the southern Zenoiran Army fell, and Elheim was finally liberated.
Entry 7[]
Venturing into the frozen land of Bastorias, Alain braved the brutal tundra and allied with the mighty bestrals. Together, they vanquished Reimann and his successor, Elgor, breaking Zenoira’s grip on the region.
Entry 8[]
Crossing into Albion, the sacred land of the angels, Alain defeated Zenoira’s forces stationed there and reclaimed Bisfaine Basilica. In doing so, he uncovered the tragic truth behind the pontifex’s untimely demise.
Entry 9 – The Overlord, Defeated[]
With Galerius at last struck down, the fallen emperor made a desperate attempt to seize Alain’s body. However, the power of the rings thwarted him, erasing his soul forever.
Entry 10[]
Upon reclaiming Gran Corrine, Alain ascended to the throne of Cornia. His reign began with the kingdom’s restoration and the final eradication of Zenoira’s lingering forces. In the years to come, he would be remembered as the Unicorn Overlord.
Entry 11 – Unicorn Overlord[]
After freeing Galerius’s soul and restoring Ilenia to her own body, Alain raced to battle Baltro, who had opened the gate to The Beyond.
Entry 12[]
With the aid of the six great sages, Alain vanquished Baltro and used the Ring of the Unicorn to bring salvation to the lost souls of Zenoira—eradicating the necromancer once and for all.
Entry 13[]
Though Alain possessed no innate ability to commune with Zenoira’s lost souls, it is believed that the ring’s power and the gate to The Beyond made this feat possible.
Entry 14[]
With Gran Corrine restored and Zenoira’s army defeated, Ilenia abdicated the throne to Alain, who declared to the world that Cornia had risen anew. History would remember him as the Unicorn Overlord of the rightful Cornia.
