Alan Keane is a supporting character in The Amazing World of Gumball series.
Alan is an optimistic teal colored balloon who likes to make the world a better place. He attends Elmore Junior High as a student, where he achieves good grades and tries to bring the best out of his fellow peers. Alan is currently dating Carmen, a green cactus who also attends the same school.
He was voiced by Kerry Shale in Season 1, and later by Hugo Harold-Harrison from Season 2 and onwards.
History[]
Despite that other students don't care and they spit on his kindness, he is always willing to do the right thing.
Even though other students get annoyed by him and even want him dead sometimes! But that's only because they don't know his heart.
Personality[]
Alan is a slightly deflated, teal-colored rubber balloon, whose face is drawn on with black permanent marker ink.
In season 2 onwards, his design changes very little. Alan has slightly more round/oval-shaped eyes than his original design, and he appears to be colored brighter.
In the early reel, Alan had a nose and freckles, making him look more baby-like, but this was taken out when the official series started.
Trivia[]
- Alan can propel himself through the air without any visible assistance.
- Most people who have never seen the show before mistake Alan for a female, possibly because of his eyelashes, which are more common on female characters in animation, and also because of his high voice, which is caused by helium.
- Alan can be seen going out with Masami in the early reel. Ironically, she planned on going out with him in "The Storm."
- During the first season, Gumball seems to have trouble remembering his name, calling him Adrian, Alfred, Andrew, Arthur, Alex, etc.
- His personality puts his health and life in danger. One of best examples is that he had popped a total of sixteen times in the series:
- The first time was in the early reel, where Carmen gets launched at him.
- The second time was in the original trailer, where he attempts to kiss Carmen but gets popped by her needles.
- The third time was in "The Mustache", where he pops in shock at Gumball's transformation.
- The fourth time was in "The Banana", where he gets knocked into Carmen by Gumball.
- The fifth time was in "The Photo", where Darwin punches Alan, popping him.
- The sixth time was in "The Voice," where Gumball throws a rock at him for constantly saying "sorry".
- The seventh time was in "The Joy", when he is spreading the Joy virus and rams into Carmen, causing him to pop on the lockers, leaving behind a rainbow-colored stain in the process.
- The eighth time was in "The Pizza", when he and some other citizens try to attack the Wattersons, and Nicole pops him by spitting out a sharp part of Leslie's petal at him.
- The ninth was in "The Uploads", during Alan's ice bucket challenge.
- The tenth was in "The Advice", when the Abraham Lincoln goat attacks him.
- The eleventh was in "The Bus", when he thinks everyone should go to school, but Gumball thinks otherwise.
- The twelfth was in "The Stories", when Jamie throws a dodgeball at him.
- The thirteenth was in "The Guy", when Anais tries attacking him.
- The fourteenth was in "The Vision", when he is typing his new world domination plan and Gumball comes in and pops him.
- The fifteenth was in "The Anybody," when Darwin attempts to find Clayton in the cinema and expose him, he pops Alan due to thinking he is Clayton in disguise.
- The sixteenth time was in "The Decisions", where Gumball pops him to remove all of the water inside him.
- It is revealed in "The Storm" that whatever he eats gets turned into air.
- His last name is revealed in "The Vision".
