Biography
As a child, he was bullied and neglected by his parents - his father in particular.
Now a timid sheep farmer in his twenties, he is dumped by Louise, his girlfriend of a year and a half. Devastated, he goes to the saloob and rants drunkenly at his best friend Edward and his girlfriend Ruth. He becomes a miserable hermit over the next fortnight, staying home with his aging parents, until Edward visits and convinces him to come outside again.
Later in the night, a bar fight ensues after a bandit named Lewis shoots and kills the pastor's son. Albert sees a woman drinking casually amidst the chaos when two men fall over the balcony above her; Albert pushes her away and lands next to her just outside the saloon's entrance. She thanks Albert for saving her, before they exchange names and talk for a while. Albert talks about how Louise left him for Foy, a man much richer than himself, so Anna teaches him how to shoot in order to impress Louise again.
After a couple of weeks of training and bonding, Albert begins to impress Louise again, but the night before Albert's arranged duel with Foy, Anna realises that she has fallen in love with Albert, and kisses him after he gives her a present for helping him. Albert walks her home in confusion, and they kiss again, unknowingly being watched by Lewis in the shadows.
The next morning, infamous bandit leader Clinch Leatherwood arrives and demands to know who kissed his wife, revealing Lewis as his right-hand, and Anna as his wife. Embittered, Albert negotiates his way out of his duel with Foy and, finding that his parents are dead, leaves town. Before he escapes, Anna finds him at his house and says that she loves him; Albert says that he fell in ove with her too, but was hurt to find that she was married, and to a dangerous bandit.
Albert escapes the bandits, but is captured by natives. Speaking their language, Albert convinces them to help him. The next day, Albert returns to town and shoots Clinch with a bullet laced with snake venom, killing him and saving Anna. After earning his reward money for the bounty, Albert marries Anna and buys more sheep for their farm.
Personality
Albert is mostly a coward, as shown in a duel in the beginning of the film and not coming out of his house for some time. Despite from this, he genuinely loves his friends and parents.
