Alex Jones, originally named Annie, is a recurring character of the television series Supernatural.

She was reported missing in 2006 after being abducted near Kenosha, Wisconsin. She was taken by Celia and her family, who forced her into servitude as a blood slave and used her to lure unsuspecting victims to their nest for feeding. Overwhelmed by guilt, she eventually escaped. Jody Mills has since adopted her.

Biography[]

Season 9[]

Annie arrives in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where she is arrested by Deputy Frank and thrown in jail. When Frank leaves to respond to a breaking and entering call, her vampire "brother" Cody tracks her down. Terrified, Annie cowers as Cody confronts her—until Sheriff Jody Mills arrives and decapitates him with a fire axe. Despite being saved, Annie refuses to thank Jody, still viewing Cody as her "brother." Jody calls in Sam and Dean, who confirm Annie isn’t a vampire and try to get information from her. Insisting on being called "Alex," she recognizes them as hunters and refuses to help them hunt her "family." Using her bus ticket, Sam and Dean track the nest to O'Neill, Nebraska, while Jody takes Alex to her family cabin for protection.

At the cabin, Alex refuses to eat or sleep, coldly deducing that Jody's family is dead. That night, Jody reveals that Alex's last remaining human relative—her grandmother—has also passed away. Before Alex can react, her vampire "family" arrives, knocks Jody unconscious, and abducts her.

At the nest, Alex is surprised when Celia forgives her for leading to Cody and Dale’s deaths. Struggling with guilt over her past actions, Alex agrees to be turned into a vampire. Celia feeds her blood, initiating the transformation. When Jody arrives to rescue her, she finds Alex adjusting to her new vampire nature. Celia knocks Jody out and urges Alex to feed on her, but Alex hesitates—Jody has been kind to her. Jody soon realizes that Celia once lost a daughter named Alex and renamed Annie as a way to replace her. Admitting that she, too, has been trying to fill the void left by her own family, Jody pleads with Alex. When Celia moves to kill Jody, Alex makes a shocking choice—injecting Celia with dead man's blood, saving Jody. Furious and betrayed, Celia lashes out, but Jody takes the opportunity to decapitate her. Since Alex hadn't consumed human blood, Sam and Dean are able to cure her.

Later, as Alex recovers from the vampire cure, Jody reassures her that she isn’t alone and offers her support. Acknowledging that no one can truly understand what she’s been through, Jody is surprised when Alex points out that she actually can—both of them have lost their entire families. In that moment, they begin to find solace in each other.

Season 10[]

Jody had since adopted a rebellious Alex, who had developed a habit of smoking pot under the bleachers. While Jody was away on a sheriff's retreat, she made frequent calls to check in on Alex. During one of these calls, she heard the distant sound of firecrackers in the background, a sign that Alex was once again pushing the boundaries.

Season 11[]

In Don't You Forget About Me, Alex is leaving school with her boyfriend, Henry, when one of her friends approaches to mention that Alex and Henry are in the running for Prom Queen and King. They joke about it, but their moment is interrupted by Mr. Phelps, who reminds Alex about a test she has the next day. Later, Jody picks Alex up and expresses her pride in how Alex has been adjusting to a more normal life. However, Jody notices birth control pills in Alex’s bag.

At home, Alex and Jody are surprised to find the Winchesters there. Claire had called them in, much to Alex and Jody’s annoyance, as neither believes there’s a monster. During dinner, Alex reveals that Claire's hunts are based on a crime blog, prompting Claire to reveal that Alex and Henry plan to sneak away to Jody's cabin for sex. This leads to an awkward sex talk from Jody. While talking to Dean, Jody confides that things had been difficult with Alex, but she’d been turning her life around, even dating the most popular guy at school. The next day, Alex and Henry arrive at school to find Mr. Phelps' body hanging from the flagpole. School is canceled, and the pair takes a walk along a stream. Alex is deeply disturbed by Mr. Phelps' death, especially because he had believed in her, and the manner of his death weighs heavily on her. She admits to Henry that she wasn't always the good person she is now and recalls the terrible things she did while with Celia and her vampire family. Henry reassures her that he doesn’t care about her past, and they kiss.

That night, Dean calls Alex, telling her to stay put as the school custodian is a vampire. She tries to leave, telling Henry to go, but he attacks her, revealing himself as a vampire.

Alex is dragged to the vampire nest, where she’s horrified to find Claire and Jody tied up. The custodian, Richard Beesome, explains that three years earlier, in O'Neill, Nebraska, he had rescued Alex from a "sleezbag" outside a bar and gave her a ride home, only to be attacked and turned by her vampire family. This act led to him slaughtering his own family, and now he seeks revenge. Richard explains that he turned Henry into a vampire and sent him after Alex to lure her into a trap. His plan was to tear her down by taking her teacher, boyfriend, and family before feeding on her himself.

Henry admits his affection for Alex was fake, mocking her, and Alex spits on him. Richard, determined to make Alex suffer, drags Claire over to feed on her. Alex confirms that the Winchesters, hunters, had killed her entire vampire nest. She offers herself up to Richard and Henry to help them feed in exchange for Claire and Jody’s lives. Richard agrees to her offer and begins to feed on Claire. However, sensing Sam nearby, the vampires leave to confront him. As Henry fights Sam, Richard grabs a machete and prepares to kill Alex, but Claire, with a crowbar, stabs Richard in the back, distracting him long enough for Dean to decapitate him. Freed by Dean, Alex confronts Henry, who mocks her. She punches him before Claire cuts off his head.

The next morning, Alex and Claire attempt to cook breakfast for Jody. Alex feels guilty for nearly causing Jody’s death at Richard’s hands. Claire reassures Alex that Richard wanted to kill her for what her vampire family did, not because of Alex's own actions. Jody reminds Alex that she was willing to sacrifice herself to save them, which is what makes her strong. Later, Alex tells Sam she plans to return to school, and if other vampires come for her, she’ll be ready. She also admits that once she has her life together, she may need to move on, as being around monsters is no longer a life she wants. She watches with Claire and Jody as Sam and Dean leave.

Season 12[]

In Celebrating The Life of Asa Fox, Jody informs the Winchesters that Claire and Alex are in Omaha attending a Radiohead concert.

In Ladies Drink Free, Claire confides in Sam that Alex is planning to go to nursing school and that she believes Jody wants the same for her. After briefly being turned into a werewolf, Claire comes to terms with the fact that Jody and Alex are her family. She leaves Jody a voicemail, revealing the truth about her feelings and telling her that she’s going to be hunting alone for a while. In a lighthearted moment at the end of the message, she asks Jody to “tell Alex not to touch my stuff.”

In Who We Are, Alex arrives home just in time to save Jody from a brainwashed Mary Winchester, helping to subdue her. Afterward, the two of them alert the Winchesters to the situation. When they arrive, Alex tends to Dean’s leg injury. Alex witnesses Sam rallying the American hunters to stand against the British Men of Letters and prepares to leave for a safe house. Before she goes, she shares a warm, supportive farewell with Jody, telling her to “kick it in the ass.”

Season 13[]

In Wayward Sisters, after several days without contact from the Winchesters, Alex reaches out to Walt and Donna Hanscum on Jody’s behalf, but neither has seen them. Now working as a nursing assistant, Alex uses the hospital's medical database to search for any signs of the Winchesters or Kaia Nieves, but comes up empty. When Claire returns home, she becomes upset as Alex leaves for work, and tensions run high between them. At the hospital, Alex helps Claire track down Kaia, who has just arrived. She explains that she occasionally helps Jody when asked, and makes it clear to Claire that Jody is always worried about her.

As the search for the Winchesters intensifies, Alex tries to convince Patience Turner to stay behind with the group. Though Patience isn't a fighter, Alex admits that neither is she, but there are still other ways to contribute. When monsters from The Bad Place attack, Alex joins the others in fleeing the scene. She warmly greets Donna when she arrives to help, and with a pistol in hand, Alex stands alongside Jody, Donna, and Patience to defend the rift to The Bad Place while Claire and Kaia rescue the Winchesters. During the fight, Alex kills one of the monsters with several shots to the chest.

In the aftermath, Alex helps clean up Jody's house and joins Jody, Donna, Claire, and Patience for a dinner together, sharing a quiet moment of camaraderie after the chaos.

Season 14[]

In The Scar, Jody informs the Winchesters that Alex is still working at the hospital. She casually mentions that she often has Alex treat her injuries, such as when she broke her wrist, rather than going to the hospital. Jody also shares that she took home samples from three murder victims, had Alex test them under a microscope with silver and dead man's blood to check if they were monsters, but the tests came back negative.

In Damaged Goods, Donna Hanscum tells Dean that she’s continued training the girls to be hunters. Despite Alex supposedly not wanting to pursue the hunting life, Donna reveals that Alex single-handedly killed two vetala, impressing Dean with her skills.

Season 15[]

In Galaxy Brain, while investigating a dead cow, Jody receives a call from Alex about dinner. The two joke about who made it, Alex or Patience, before Jody mentions that she thought they were dealing with a monster, but it turns out to be a case of human-on-animal cruelty instead. Alex, disturbed by the sight of "poor Bessie" being clubbed to death, listens as Jody orders her to keep the lasagna warming up in the oven, which Alex promises to do before hanging up.
