Hero Overview

The next couple of hours are a blur in the sense that there's not much to note. There's an air of tranquility throughout the scene, and it is in moments like these where I get to thinking outside the noise of regular life. I've had too many close calls in too little time. I'm new to the Foundation, and I've done nothing but squander my time because I've been able to? That doesn't seem right to me. I don't want to coast by doing nothing and passing it off as work. And yet, I'm plagued by these small moments involving the same themes, over and over again. Something happens, and I barely blink at the situation until it's far past me. I make a decision right there and then. I'm gonna find out what's going on. No more half-assing it.
~ Alex Thorley's inner monologue in "The Castaway From Unreality".

Alex Thorley is a character in the SCP Foundation series. They are a mysterious employee of the SCP Foundation, assigned to the Department of Unreality. They are the only "real" member of the Department, being the latest to have joined, but are subjected to bizarre events happening around them.

They play an important role in the "Untitled Series" and "The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit" series.

Appearance[]

Alex Thorley appeared as a small androgynous Caucasian human being with a pale complexion, lengthy black hair and eyes, though Thorley once stated that they were blonde. Other accounts describe them as possessing white hair, or hair, eyes and clothes of varying colors.

Personality[]

But I'd like a cat and some fish because, seeing them makes me sad. They don't talk to me, I mean, see me, a lot, but I see them and they always look sad. Cats more so. Especially around Christmas. I think it's messed up how stores will offer these Christmas discounts on pets, and then because no one can take care of them, they just end up in the pound or something. I'd want a home too if I was an animal. I know I don't like being tossed around.
~ Alex Thorley in "Alex Thorley's Christmas Special".

At first Alex Thorley appeared to be an emotionless and antisocial individual, being shy, quaint and quiet. In truth, Thorley suffered from insecurity, almost always overthinking about what others thought of them, and fearing of being judged negatively. They longed for friends and meaningful connections, but found it extremely difficult to form any sort of relationship. This led to Thorley becoming detached from the outside world and secluding themself from everyone, believing people they met hated them, always ignored others' messages, having no energy or motivation to finish their tasks, and never addressing obvious matters, though they felt good when people just thought of them. As a result of this, they tended to get easily confused, being always unable to concentrate during discussions and becoming confused or unsure of what their fellow staff members were talking about, and even often forgot their own name. Thorley felt overwhelmed by big crowds of people, that the air was heavy and difficult to walk through and never attended psychological evaluations. Thorley felt themself like an empty person, being unable to move on from things, and thinking that their usual thoughts, like always being hungry, were random and made them feel stupid, but also rarely had any violent thought which they never acted upon. Usually Thorley was incapable of dreaming when they slept, but when they did dream they dreamed of a strange alternate reality where they met strange beings. Thorley apparently harbored romantic feelings for their duplicates, having personal intimate moments between, but later they attempted to break their relationship off as it didn't feel right loving themself. Back when they were younger, Thorley was excited about exploring the outside world, but as they grew found it droning, finding most things uninteresting, often thinking about the sadness of life, and not distinguishing the days they had gone through. Despite all of this, they would become determined to find answers of some matters they got interested in, loved reading books and imagined themself in those fictional worlds. Thorley appeared to love animals, especially cats, as they related to them, and enjoyed spending time with their own cat. In one account, Thorley was described as having some sort of dissociative identity disorder, with Jennifer Williams, Jane Doe and the Essodeer being their alternate personalities: Jennifer representing Thorley's sweetness, tenderness and kindness; and Jane representing Thorley's roughness, strength and adventurousness.

Powers and Abilities[]

Alex Thorley for the most part was a normal human being with no notable properties. However, they are affected by various anomalous phenomena that were based on their life. Every January 16th, Thorley's birthday, reality would temporarily cease to exist until the next day, with people remembering the date as an uneventful day. Through the use of SCP-6208, Foundation rooms that randomly manifest and disappear in Foundation facilities, Thorley could teleport between facilities that were located around the world, but had no control over when they teleported or where to. While part of the Foundation, duplicates of Thorley began appearing around them, either alive or dead as seen in SCP-7227 and SCP-7591. This phenomena was designated SCP-6569, and may have come as a result of an anomaly similar to SCP-6416 which revolved around their bra strap. The object may be the same in every universe, which could mean that Thorley's duplicates are their alternate selves that had been transported from their respective realities to the main one. Thorley could also cause people around them to look down on them, as seen in SCP-7591, and it would culminate in the appearance of a dead duplicate of them. When Thorley refused to address a big matter, that matter would physically manifest itself as an elephant, designated SCP-8591, which remained in their office until Thorley finally addressed it, which caused the elephant to demanifest.

A short visual novel dating sim in which the player takes the role of Alex Thorley who is on a date with a clone of themself. Depending on the choices and the manner you play the game would end in four endings.
