Alfred Pennyworth is the deuteragonist of Batman: The Animated Series, a major supporting character of it's sequel The New Batman Adventures and a recurring character in Superman: The Animated Series and Justice League. He was the butler to Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne, and later to their son Bruce, the first Batman Before entering the Wayne family's service, he was an agent of the British Secret Service. He is the one who helps keep the Batcave running.
Personality
Alfred is the Wayne family's old butler, who is fiercely loyal towards Bruce, whom he sees as a surrogate son, especially since raised him after his parents' deaths. Alfred keeps a Stiff Upper Lip, even under the extraordinary circumstances imposed by his master's secret identity, though he can't help but make the occasional sarcastic quip about Bruce's unusual hobby.
Abilities
Despite his unthreatening and quiet appearance, Alfred is also a former agent of the British Secret Service and has more than once proved he is quite capable of holding his own in fights.
