Scribe Alhaitham is a playable major character in the 2020 action role-playing fantasy video game Genshin Impact.

Alhaitham was the Scribe of the Sumeru Akademiya, responsible for administrative matters such as documentation, and a member of its Haravatat Darshan. He possessed an unrivalled intellect, though his pragmatic and unapologetic personality often put him at odds with others. Despite having no political aspirations, he briefly served as the Akademiya's Acting Grand Sage following a crisis.

He is voiced by Chaoran Yang in Chinese, Jun Seung Hwa in Korean, Yūichirō Umehara in Japanese, and Nazeeh Tarsha in English. Umehara has also voiced the Goblin Slayer in Goblin Slayer.

Appearance[]

Alhaitham is a tall and athletic young man, approximately 25 years old. He has gray and mint green hair adorned with headphones, and his blue-green eyes feature distinctive red diamond shaped pupils. His attire consists of a sleeveless black shirt complemented by a cloak draped over his left shoulder, paired with dark green pants and boots.

Personality[]

Alhaitham possesses a keen intellect, maintains a distant demeanor, and has a disdain for trivial conversations. He holds Buer in high regard and is prepared to deceive Azar by pretending to be insane in order to assist the Traveler and Paimon in their quest to save Nahida. He demonstrates a deep concern for his companions, including Nilou, to whom he offers a smile before being taken to Aaru village, and he is committed to liberating innocent scholars who have been unjustly exiled.

Beneath his seemingly indifferent demeanor, Alhaitham often displays a kind-hearted nature, particularly in his interactions with the traveler. He genuinely cares for Kaveh, especially during their disagreements.

While he mainly does whatever good he does for his personal reasons such as being hungry for knowledge, he is not completely self-centered, as he did participate in the plot to free Kusanali, not only because gods require worshippers for their powers, which benefits not only her, and also because of her importance in rescuing Irminsul.

Alhaitham wields a sword and a Dendro vision. He is very capable of dual wielding and making laser beams with a mirror ability.

Trivia[]

Alhaitham is based on Su from Honkai Impact as they both have grey and mint green hair and both are voiced their Chinese voice actor, Yang Chaoran.
Many fans theorized that Alhaitham is the reincarnation of King Deshret (or the Scarlet King) as hinted by the color palette of his eyes, but some accepts that only Cyno is King Deshret's reincarnation as hinted by the specialized weapon and crown.
He is the first character to dual wield a weapon, in his case swords, followed by Chiori.
