The Allied Mobs are supporting protagonists in the action-strategy spinoff, Minecraft Legends.
Unlike their hostile vanilla counterparts, these mobs are passive and heroic, helping the Hero defeat the Piglins. Once the Hero defends a homestead of invading Piglins, they forge an alliance with the respective mobs which live within it. This allows the Hero summon these mobs whenever needed. Some units such as Warriors and Witches have a different method of obtaining.
Story[]
The allied mobs make a major appearance when the Hero first approaches the Piglin base containing the Night Beacon, an artifact that would cause eternal night if not destroyed. According to the Hosts, these mobs learned how to fight by watching the hero in action. With the help of these mobs, the Hero is able to destroy the Night Beacon, restoring daylight.
After this, Piglins would attack the homesteads of Zombies, Creepers, and Skeletons. The Hero fends off the invading Piglins, forming an alliance with the mobs that they defended.
Some Villagers stumble across the ruins of a Piglin outpost. They stray away from their peers and pick up a mace from the empty battlefield, much to the concern of the Hosts. These Villagers went to the Well of Fate, offering the scraps to the Hosts, hoping that they would create weapons. After a short conversation, Action and Knowledge head into the Well of Fate to craft a new weapon. During this, Foresight grants the Villagers brand-new battle garments. Action and Knowledge return with an axe, which the Villagers proudly accept. These new warriors would make a powerful addition to the army.
With all these new allies, the Hero took down all of the Piglin bases and their Horde generals. This heavy loss angers the Great Hog, prompting him to directly attack the Well of Fate. In the most intense battle yet, the Hero was emerged victorious from the fight, with the help of the allied mobs.
Spawning[]
“ | As long as that flame continues to burn, the skeletons will fight by your side whenever you need them. | „ |
~ Foresight after the Hero forms an alliance with the Skeletons. |
The allied mobs can spawn naturally in the Overworld, mainly in their respective settlements. However, the most efficient way in spawning them is using spawners. Unlike the Golems, the allied mobs have a more extensive process in gaining access to their spawners. The Hero needs to defend a homestead from the invading Piglins and destroy the nearby outpost.
Once that is completed, the Hero will forge an alliance with the mobs in the homestead, being granted the ability to use spawners of the mob. However, Piglins can return to the homestead and attack it, forcing the Hero to fight the invaders in order to keep their alliance with the mobs. Only one homestead of each mob can generate in a campaign in their respective biomes:
- Zombie homesteads generate in the jungle biome, identified by the stony buildings and corpse flowers.
- Skeleton homesteads generate in the tundra biome, identified by the skull-like structure.
- Creeper homesteads generate in the badlands biome, identified by the tall, stone structures.
Witches have a slightly different way of obtainment. In every village, there is one naturally generating witch hut. Once any village is successfully defended from a Piglin raid, Witches can be summoned by interacting with a witch hut and spending some resources. If the player has not defended a village yet, any Witches that have spawned near their hut cannot be rallied.
Zombies, Creepers, and Skeletons are summoned with spawners by spending resources. Witches can only be summoned at a witch hut found in villages.
- Zombies: 25 wood + 25 stone + 5 redstone = spawner | 2 redstone + 2 lapis = unit.
- Skeletons: 25 wood + 25 stone + 5 diamond = spawner | 2 diamond + 2 lapis = unit.
- Creepers: 25 wood + 25 stone + 5 coal = spawner | 2 coal + 2 lapis = unit.
- Witches: 2 gold + 2 prismarine + 5 lapis = unit.
Warriors spawn differently than these other mobs. Late in the story, after the Hero has taken down multiple Piglin bases, they will granted access to the Warriors. Once the Hero can fast travel to either a village or the Well of Fate, a large group of Warriors would spawn at the center of that structure. There are no spawners for the Warrior, so this is the only way to obtain them.
Members[]
Zombies[]
“ | Despite their horticultural learnings, zombies will bravely fight in the frontlines to save their allies from the heavier blows. It's a good thing that the piglins haven't caught onto why zombies wear hats. | „ |
~ The Zombie's journal entry. |
All Zombies in Minecraft Legends are zombie villagers who were presumably farmers, judging by their straw hats. Because of their headwear, they do not burn in the daylight.
The Zombies are the most hardy out of all the basic units, having 200 health. This makes them an ideal frontline, as they soak up damage for other more offensive troops. Like the Cobblestone Golem, the Zombies have a melee attack that is most effective against structures. They are resistant to spores, but take extra damage from fire and slashes.
Skeletons[]
“ | The tundra-native skeletons are excellent archers that are best suited to the far edges of the battlefield. Why do skeletons wear armor? Some say they have felt a war coming for a long time. Others say it's the result of a particularly rattling blow to the head. One is more likely than the other. | „ |
~ The Skeleton's journal entry. |
Similarly to the Zombies, the Skeletons can survive in daylight due to their helmets. Unlike other skeletons in the franchise, these could be the first villager skeletons because of their noses.
The Skeletons are long ranged units, so it is best to keep them in the backlines. Because of their extremely long range, they are ideal at taking out Piglins and structures from afar. However, their great offensive capabilities comes with lacking defence. They have below-average health and take extra damage from explosions, crushes, rolls, and charge attacks.
Creeper[]
“ | Native to the badlands, the creepers deal devastating explosive damage to piglin structures. When was the last time you were glad to hear sSssSssssSssssss? It's a welcome yet peculiar feeling. | „ |
~ The Creeper's journal entry. |
Creepers in Minecraft Legends have a similar color scheme as they do in Minecraft Dungeons, in order to match the aesthetic of the game.
Like their behaviour in vanilla Minecraft, the Creepers run up to their target and explode, destroying themselves in the process. This attack does massive damage to structures, so a good strategy is to gather as many Creepers as possible, sending them towards any structure to obliterate them. They take reduced damage from explosives, but are weak to ranged attacks.
Warrior[]
“ | Warriors are your most powerful ally against the piglins. For them, defending the Overworld came at a heavy cost. | „ |
~ The Warrior's journal entry. |
They are brave Villagers who willingly volunteered to help the Hero take down the Piglins. They resembled Vindicators from the base game, wielding axes giving to them by the Hosts.
The Warriors are a very powerful and well-rounded unit. Using their iron axes, they are able to either do a quick strike, or a slow and powerful chop. Their unique ability is giving themselves the hastened effect, which increases their attack speed for a brief amount of time. They are resistant to crushes, fire, and ranged attacks. With their great offence and above-average defence, they make a great frontline to the army.
Witch[]
“ | These powerful alchemists have had enough of the piglins and they're ready to throw their potions into the fight. Earn their trust bu defending their village from a nighttime invasion. How do witches throw potions with their arms crossed? Only they know what tricks they have up their sleeves. | „ |
~ The Witch's journal entry. |
The Witches have a very different design to their vanilla counterparts. They have a more detailed robe and hat. The Witches seem to co-exist will with the Villagers, as they live within villages in their huts.
Witches attack by throwing potions at Piglins, capable of dealing splash damage, inflicting poison, and causing knockback. Paired with their decent health, Witches make for a great offensive unit to deal with Piglin troops. They are resistant to chops and ranged attacks, but are very vulnerable to rolls, blaze rods, darts, and blunt attacks. Witches have a unique interaction with the cauldron building, increasing their potion knockback when around it's radius.

Trivia[]
- Spiders were originally going to be an allied mob the player could obtain after destroying the Night Beacon. They would have the ability to scale walls and terrain like the Brilliant Beetle. Other than that, they would have behaved normally, following the player if rallied and attack enemy Piglins. The reason they were cut is unknown, although it could be due to Minecraft Legends' early discontinuation.
- Despite being cut, spiders could still be seen in the cover art of Minecraft Legends. They could also be observed climbing walls during the Night Beacon cutscene.
- According to some concept art, spiders were also originally planned to be a mount, before the Brilliant Beetle was created. They were also planned to have blue eyes.
- Remnants of an "Alchemist" can be found in the game files, a villager profession before it go scrapped. The Witch was likely made to replace this.
- Other than the Warrior, some concept art show that Villagers could have been planned to have more allied variants. These would have been biome exclusive.
- In Legends, the Creepers are forest-green, similar to their color scheme in Dungeons and unlike vanilla Minecraft.
- The Zombies and Skeletons wear headgear due to their weakness to daylight.
- The Warriors confirmed a long speculated theory that the Vindicators used to be ordinary Villagers. Their aggression came from their lust for violence, eventually leading themselves to completely separate from the Villagers and become hostile towards them.
