Hero Overview

Allura is one of the three main protagonists (Alongside Shiro and Keith) of the Voltron: Legendary Defender series. She functions as a Paladin of Voltron, piloting the Blue Lion.

She was voiced by Kimberly Brooks, who also voice Rayona from Ben 10: Omniverse and Luna from Scooby Doo.

History[]

Allura is a princess of Altea and the daughter of King Alfor, she was the last known female Altean. Pilot and keeper of the Castle of Lions, a structure that is both a castle and a spaceship, Allura granted the Defenders their titles and sent them on their mission to attack Zarkon and liberate the universe.

However, Allura wishes more than anything to finish her father's work in stopping Zarkon. In season three, she becomes the new pilot of the Blue Lion as the new Blue Paladin. So much that Allura and Lance engage in a romantic relationship and Lance starts to be more protective and caring towards her.

At the finale, she and Honerva give their lives to restore realities after they were destroyed in the final battle.

Personality[]

Despite being a member of royalty, she is a very kind and well-intention person that wants to save universe from Galra Empire. She loves and cares for her people to the point of expressing sadness when being reminded of the genocide of the Alteans by the Galras. But due to her optimism, she help restore Voltron with the new pilots and tries the best she can to provide information or advice to the pilots. Allura is also very altruistic since she cares to help others including the state of the entire universe especially she is very diplomatic to other races and tries to settle an agreement to bring peace. When it comes to her father, Alfor, she deeply respects and admires him including his goals and motives for the lions. She loves talking to him and his hologram in which she often talks about her worries and feelings while being comforted by him despite being a hologram.

Allura holds a good force of will, she was able to sacrifice her father's AI in order to save everyone in the ship from entering the sun. She was willing to give up her own life to save reality itself from Haggar's destruction on the entire multiverse. This shows how very self sacrificing and force of good that Allura is as a person and is willing to risk her life for the greater good.

Despite all this, Allura does have a wrathful side to her personality. She has a deep seated hatred for the Galra's due to the destruction of her plant that was caused by Zarkon and the force oppression of other races in the galaxy. It got to that point where she distrust anyone from the Galra empire. For example: Allura already dislike the group called Blade of Marmora mainly on the fact they were Galra's and distrusted them. She also angrily knocked Lotor out after discovering his true plans for the galaxy. She even compared Lotor to his father suggesting that he is exactly like him and thought of abandoning him in the quintessence field despite being conflicted with this idea. By the time of season 8, she was fully prepare to kill Haggar AKA Honerva out of anger for using the remaining Alteans for her own plans. But after entering her subconscious, noticing the tragedy between Honerva and Zarkon and their corruption she was willing to forgive them. She even tells Honerva about Lotor and understands her pain of wanting to be a better parent for her son and what she has went through.

Abilities[]

As an Altean, Allura's abilities include the chameleon-like ability to blend in with other species and magical abilities related to quintessence. She has a telepathic bond with some Altean mice that had ended up in the same cryo-pod that she was hibernating inside of.

Trivia[]

  • Allura's exact age is unknown. She has been described as being a teenager by series staff and merchandise.[1][2] Due to Coran's age being at least 600 years old,[3] proving the long lifespan of Alteans, it is not known if Allura is truly 19 years old or younger, or simply the Altean equivalent of a human teenager.
    • Although she has existed for at least 10,000 years, Allura has not aged mentally nor physically because she had been in a stasis sleep and did not consciously experience that span of time.
    • Kova is 28 deca-phoebs old when Honerva and Zarkon enter the rift on Daibazaal, and Allura was born after Kova. The Paladin's Handbook translates deca-phoebs to years; if the guidebook is accurate, and no significant time passed between Daibazaal's destruction and Allura's stasis, then Allura is no more than 28 years old.
    • Allura was born before Lotor, but because she was put in a stasis sleep for 10,000 years and he instead experienced those 10,000 years' worth of time, Lotor is older than her.
  • Allura's death in the season finale has caused numerous controversies with fans of the show and character. Many felt it was very unnecessary to have her be killed off just to restore the multiverse from Haggar's mental breakdown and that it was unfair for everyone to get a happy ending but her.
    • Not only that, her entire royal bloodline ended with her since she has no relatives and children to continue her legacy.
    • Besides that, many fans started to send death threats and hate towards the creators of the show and voice actors. Some have gotten so far to stop acknowledging the show all together.
