~ Alpha Trion to Orion, D-16, Elita, and Bumblebee about the true meaning of what a Transformer's purpose is and his most famous line in the movie. |
Alpha Trion is a major character in the 2024 animated film, Transformers One. He is the last surviving member of the Thirteen Primes, who exposes the truth of their demise to Orion Pax, D-16, Elita-1 and B-127.
He then gives them the T-Cogs of the fallen Primes so they can help expose Sentinel Prime's crimes and liberate Cybertron from his tyranny, before sacrificing himself to hold off Sentinel's forces so they could escape and reveal to Cybertron the truth of Sentinel's crimes. He was executed by Sentinel afterwards but the truth has been exposed by using the memories of Sentinel's enforcer, Airachnid. After Orion Pax was killed by D-16 (now known as Megatron), Alpha Trion, his fellow Primes and Primus revived Orion when upgrading him even further with the Matrix of Leadership and become the heroic Optimus Prime.
He was voiced by Laurence Fishburne, who also played Morpheus from the Matrix franchise, the Bowery King from the John Wick franchise, and the Silver Surfer from Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. In the Japanese dub, he is voiced by Tessho Genda, who provided the Japanese voice for Optimus Prime in the Generation 1 cartoon, the Bay-directed movies, and the Reboot film series.
Personality[]
As one of the original Thirteen Primes, Alpha Trion is a benevolent, wise, and caring leader who prioritizes the freedom and autonomy of his people above all else. He is more than willing to assist Orion and his group in recovering the T-Cogs that were stolen from them at birth by Sentinel. Even when he observes D-16’s darker side, which harbors a desire to kill Sentinel as an act of revenge, Alpha Trion believes that the freedom of choice is important, even if it leads to such an extreme response.
History[]
Past[]
Alpha Trion was one of the Thirteen Primes, a group of Transformers who served as the principal protectors of Cybertron, defending their home planet from their ancient enemies, the Quintessons. One day, Trion and the other Primes were contacted by an informant named Sentinel, who had discovered a Quintesson transmission indicating that a secret meeting among Quintesson commanders was taking place. Sentinel led the thirteen Primes to a cave on the surface, but he had deceived them; it was actually a Quintesson ambush. The Quintessons attacked Trion and his fellow Primes. Although they managed to hold their ground and were close to victory, they were ultimately betrayed by Sentinel. He killed several Primes, finishing off Zeta Prime last. In the chaos, Trion was buried under debris, but not before he sent out a hidden beacon and a map for other Cybertronians in Iacon. Sentinel sought the Matrix of Leadership, which was kept by Zeta. He opened Zeta's chest and attempted to take the Matrix, but it was suddenly forcefully pulled from his grasp and vanished. Primus had determined that Sentinel was unworthy to wield the Matrix.
Transformers One[]
As Sentinel resumed his rule over Cybertron and falsely proclaimed himself a Prime, Trion remained dormant until he was discovered by Orion Pax, D-16, Elita, and B-127, who had received his message and followed his coordinates. The miners revived Trion using a small Energon cube. Although shocked by the state of Cybertron and confused by its current situation, Trion eventually explained to the miners that the lives they had lived under Sentinel's rule and "protection" were built on lies. Through a hologram, Trion revealed the truth about the deaths of his fellow Primes. He explained that Sentinel, who claimed to have failed to find the Matrix of Leadership multiple times, had actually attempted to take it from Zeta for himself but was deemed unworthy by Primus. The miners were initially skeptical of Trion's story until they witnessed Sentinel and his soldiers made a bargain of delivering the mined Energon to the Quintessons.
As the miners found themselves disillusioned by Sentinel's betrayal, Trion then revealed one last piece of information about Sentinel's betrayal: Every Transformer is born with a transformation cog, an item which allows a Cybertronian to transform. Sentinel had intentionally stripped every newborn Transformer of their cog and forced them to work in the mines so he can get more energon to give to the Quintessons. Seeing potential in the bots before him, Trion gave them the cogs of Prima Prime, Onyx Prime, Alchemist Prime and Micronus Prime, and their bodies underwent a transformation into newer and bigger bodies. They were then interrupted by rumbling, as they have been found by Sentinel's Death Trackers. D-16 wished to fight them, but Trion ordered the group to return to Iacon City, as he gave Orion a recording of Sentinel with the Quintesson High Commander, and they left, though Orion did not want to leave Trion behind, he insisted to stay behind. Orion eventually left, and the Death Trackers got inside. Trion transformed into his beast form and used his alternate mode to take out the Death Trackers, but he was incapacitated by Airachnid.
Trion was then brought before Sentinel, who mocked him. Sentinel then asked who was with him in the cave, to which Trion replied that they were going to be his undoing, telling Sentinel that he has lost, and Sentinel responded by using his double-bladed sword to stab, and kill Trion.
Trion's sacrifice was not in vain. Orion, Elita, and B-127 successfully subdued Airachnid, who had been present when Sentinel delivered the Energon to the Quintessons and confessed his crimes to the former miners. They used Airachnid's memory core to expose Sentinel for the traitor and liar he is, turning all of Cybertron against him. The miners revolted, abandoning the carts filled with Energon, effectively abolishing Sentinel's exploitation of their labor.
Later, after Orion was wounded by D-16 while trying to stop him from executing Sentinel, Trion's spirit appeared alongside those of his fellow Primes. Orion was revived in the core of Cybertron by Primus, who bestowed upon him the Matrix of Leadership. This gift further upgraded Orion and renamed him Optimus Prime.

“ | Alpha Trion: For thousands of cycles, the war with the Quintessons had been a brutal conflict. Until Sentinel, the principal aide to the Primes, intercepted an enemy transmission. There was going to be a secret gathering of Quintesson commanders. Their elimination could end the war. It was a mission so important, we Primes took it on ourselves. We agreed to meet Sentinel for his sensitive intel in secret, here in this cave. But we were not alone. [...] We were outnumbered, but stood as one. Our victory was near... until we were betrayed. Zeta Prime: Sentinel... why? Sentinel Prime: For all the power of Cybertron! Alpha Trion: But Sentinel never understood the true power of what he desired. Seriously, I would watch you Primes spent half the day losing the war, and the other half sitting around waxing poetically about loyalty and honor! Now look at you! Alpha Trion: Hear my words! You will fall… and a new Prime will rise--! Sentinel Prime: There you go again. I don’t want to listen to any more speeches. There were others in the cave with you. Who are they? Alpha Trion: They are to be your undoing. You’ve lost, Sentinel. Nothing you can do- Sentinel Prime: (stabs him with his sword) Urgh, didn't I just say no speeches? You heard me, right? This is what I am talking about, unbelievable! All of them are like that! So disrespectful! (sighs) Okay, hunt down the others. Airachnid: With pleasure. |
