~ Alpha Trion to Orion, D-16, Elita, and Bumblebee. |
Alpha Trion is a major character of the 2024 animated film, Transformers One. He is the last surviving member of the Thirteen Primes, who exposes the truth of their demise to Orion Pax, D-16, Elita-1 and B-127.
He then gives them the T-Cogs of the fallen Primes so they can help expose Sentinel Prime's crimes and liberate Cybertron from his tyranny, before sacrificing himself to hold off Sentinel's forces so they could escape and reveal to Cybertron the truth of Sentinel's crimes.
He was voiced by Laurence Fishburne, who also played Morpheus from the Matrix franchise, the Bowery King from the John Wick franchise, and the Silver Surfer from Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
History
Alpha Trion was one of the 13 Primes, a group of Transformers who were the major protectors of Cybertron, and have been protecting their home planet from their ancient enemies, the Quintessons. One day, Trion and the Primes were contacted by their informant Sentinel, who had discovered a Quintesson transmission, revealing that a secret meeting among Quintesson commanders was happening. Sentinel led the thirteen Primes to a cave in the surface. Sentinel had lied, it was a Quintesson ambush. The Quintessons attacked at Trion and his fellow Primes, who managed to hold them off, almost winning, until they were betrayed by Sentinel, who killed multiple Primes, finishing off Zeta Prime last, as Trion was buried in the debris, but not before he sent a hidden beacon and map for other Cybertronians in Iacon. Sentinel wanted the Matrix of Leadership, which was carried by Zeta. He opened Zeta's chest, and took out the Matrix, but it was then ripped out of his hands, and vanished. Primus had deemed Sentinel unworthy to wield the Matrix.
As Sentinel resumed his rule over Cybertron and falsely proclaimed himself a Prime, Trion remained dormant, until he was found by Orion Pax, D-16, Elita and B-127, who had received his message and followed his coordinates. The miners revived Trion with a small Energon cube. Although shocked by the aftermath, and confused about Cybertron's current state, Trion eventually explained to the miners that the lives they lived while under Sentinel's rule and "protection" was a lie. Through a hologram he projected, Trion revealed the truth about how his fellow Primes died, and that Sentinel (who claimed to have failed to find the Matrix of Leadership multiple times) had tried to take it from Zeta for himself, but was deemed unworthy by Primus. The miners initially did not believe it until they saw Sentinel and his soldiers deliver the mined Energon to the Quintessons.
As the miners found themselves disillusioned by Sentinel's betrayal, Trion then revealed one last piece of information about Sentinel's betrayal: Every Transformer is born with a transformation cog, an item which allows a Cybertronian to transform. Sentinel had intentionally stripped every newborn Transformer of their cog and forced them to work in the mines so he can get more energon to give to the Quintessons. Seeing potential in the bots before him, Trion gave them the cogs of Prima Prime, Onyx Prime, Alchemist Prime and Micronus Prime, and their bodies underwent a transformation into newer and bigger bodies. They were then interrupted by rumbling, as they have been found by Sentinel's Death Trackers. D-16 wished to fight them, but Trion ordered the group to return to Iacon City, as he gave Orion a recording of Sentinel with the Quintesson High Commander, and they left, though Orion did not want to leave Trion behind, he insisted to stay behind. Orion eventually left, and the Death Trackers got inside. Trion transformed into his beast form and used his alternate mode to take out the Death Trackers, but he was incapacitated by Airachnid.
Trion was then brought before Sentinel, who mocked him. Sentinel then asked who was with him in the cave, to which Trion replied that they were going to be his undoing, telling Sentinel that he has lost, and Sentinel responded by using his double-bladed sword to stab, and kill Trion.
Trion's sacrifice was not vain, as Orion, Elita and B-127 managed to subdue Airachnid (who was present when Sentinel delivered the Energon to the Quintessons, and confessed his crimes to the former miners), and use her memory core to expose Sentinel as a traitor and liar, turning everyone on Cybertron against him. Later after Orion was wounded by D-16 for trying to stop him from executing Sentinel, Trion's spirit was present with the ones of his fellow Primes, as Orion was revived in the core of Cybertron by Primus, and bestowed with the Matrix of Leadership, which further upgraded Orion, and renamed him Optimus Prime.
Personality
As one of the original Thirteen Primes, Alpha Trion is a benevolent, wise and caring ruler who wishes for his people's freedom and autonomy above all things. He is more than happy to help Orion and his group get the T-Cogs they were robbed of at birth by Sentinel, even when he sees D-16's darker side that wishes to kill Sentinel as revenge, believing his freedom of choice matters even with such an extreme approach.
