The Amazons of Paradise Island (also simply known as just Amazons), are superheroines published by DC Comics. They are a group of female warriors that train to fight in order to prepare for the upcoming threats to Themyscira/Paradise Island. The organization is led by their queen and princess, Hippolyta and Wonder Woman.
History[]
The beginning of the Amazons started during the Bronze Age era, they were the foremost nation in the world. They lived in a place called Amazonia, where women ruled and no men were allowed. Therefore, one unexpected day, Zeus' son, Hercules, the strongest man in the world, was taunted and couldn't become the ruler of the Amazons. He chose his most powerful and fiercest warriors and arrived to their shores.
Hippolyta, the queen of the Amazons, met him, which made her concerns for her own life and the lives of her subjects. Because of this, she knew that she couldn't lose her magic griddle that was given to her by Aphrodite, also known as the Goddess of Love.
Luckily, Hippolyta was able to win victory over Hercules. Despite this, she was unaware that that was just all a apart of Hercules' tricks and the magic griddle unfortunately became secure in Hercules' hands. This incident immediately led to Hippolyta and her people to become slaves. The Goddess of Love got disappointed in Hippolyta for allowing men into their home.
Some time later, the people of Themyscira were freed once more and have allowed submission for men to arrive on the property. From then on, they became very aloof and unfriendly towards men as well.
