If I hadn’t eaten that cookie, we would’ve been home when it happened. Maybe Flint would have gotten out ok, but maybe someone else would get hurt. No one can know that. All I know is that I miss him so much... I thought if I pretend he’s just hiding, that maybe... I don’t know... That maybe I could see him again, somehow. I didn’t feel so helpless anymore. Somewhere along the way I got lost in my own fantasy and it got difficult for me to stop pretending... Mom and dad told me so many times, it wasn’t my fault, but I wouldn’t accept it and I know, now, that was wrong... You can’t outrun sadness, so there’s no point in trying. The only way to get over something is to just face it head on... I guess in his own way, that was what Red was trying to do... He was destroying this fabrication I made around myself, in hopes of reaching to me. But it was only when I lost Ted too, that I got the strength to stand up to him, and I see now, it was what he wanted all along. I know I’ll never see Flint again, and it makes me sad. But as Ted once said, life gets sad sometimes. All I have to do is push through and happiness will find me again... I need to get some sleep now, I’ll be wiser tomorrow. Amber Ashworth is the main protagonist of the 2016 video game Bear With Me. She is the older sister of Flint Ashworth, who seemingly went missing for mysterious reasons. In her quest to find her brother, Amber is later aided by a private investigator, Ted E. Bear, who is considerably suspicious of the boy's disappearance, and will stop at nothing to find him all across Paper City.
As it later turned out, her search later turns into a drastic nightmare, when an unknown figure known as the Red Man proceeds to terrorise Amber and the residents of Paper City. This turned her search into a race against time to find her brother and to stop the Red Man from striking terror across the city.
Appearance[]
Amber is a 10-year-old girl with a brown bob-cut hair and blue eyes, as well as a fragile appearance. She is seen wearing a black buttoned blouse and a skirt with flower patterns on it.
Personality[]
Amber is seen as innocent and naive on the outside, but she is strong-willed on the inside. She has a fascination with crime and mystery novels, which later becomes an ironic reality when she looks for her brother Flint who has gone missing. She is also obsessive, who does not know the definition of "stopping", especially matters towards her brother.
Abilities[]
- Reality-Warping - It is revealed that Amber has the powers to warp reality by creating a world on the inside of her head with stuffed toys that she and her brother had as its people, as she was able to create Paper City as an idealised delusion for herself, in response to the death of her brother.
Trivia[]
- It is implied throughout the game that Paper City was mostly created by Amber inside her head, with her toys including Ted E. Bear as its own residents, as means to cope with the death of Flint.
