Anakin Skywalker, also known as Darth Vader is one of the main characters of the LEGO Star Wars franchise.

Anakin was a human Jedi Grand Master who is the Jedi of the Force prophecy, who was destined to save the Galaxy from the Sith. He was Obi-Wan Kenobi's Padawan. As a child he would be a great pod racer on Tatooine, which in the future would guarantee him to be a great starfighter pilot. Despite his possible immaturity and childishness, Anakin shows to have great skills as a Jedi, as well as battle strategies that (in his time as a Padawan) he did not follow perfectly before.

As time went on, Anakin would turn to the dark side of the Sith for Darth Sidious, and thus becoming the Sith Lord Darth Vader. At the end of the Galactic Civil War, Darth Vader fulfills his role in the Jedi prophecy by finally destroying the Sith after killing Darth Sidious.

LEGO.com Description[]

Anakin Skywalker[]

Raised as a slave on Tatooine, Anakin Skywalker grew from a skilled young pilot into a famous Jedi Knight and general during the Clone Wars. His strong temper and emotions ultimately cause him to fall to the dark side of the Force and become the dreaded Sith Lord called Darth Vader.
~ LEGO

Darth Vader[]

Once the Jedi hero Anakin Skywalker, Darth Vader now serves the Emperor as a Dark Lord of the Sith and an enemy to all who would rebel against the Empire’s tyrannical control. He is highly skilled with a lightsaber and strong with the dark side of the Force, even while sealed within the black mask and armor that keep his scarred body alive. When he brings his captured son Luke Skywalker before the Emperor on board the second Death Star, Vader will have to decide where his loyalty truly lies.
~ LEGO

Appearance[]

Anakin Skywalker was a fair-skinned human with blond hair, which grew darker over time.

As a young boy, Anakin wore worn-out Tatooine clothing, as well as a pod pilot helmet. As he grew up and became a Padawan, Anakin wore a Jedi suit with a ponytail, representing his position on the Jedi Council. His hair also became darker. As he reached adulthood, Anakin's hair was darker, as was his new Jedi Master suit. He always wore a grip for his lightsaber. He also has a cybernetic hand.

Darth Vader wears a black Sith outfit with metal parts, where there is a device that controls his respiratory conditions due to the horrible scars and damage caused by the Jedi in his last battle. He also wears a very distinctive helmet, which seems to be shaped like the helmets of the commanders of the empire.

Personality[]

Young and immature, Anakin Skywalker showed childish characters, however, when he found himself in tense situations he would let himself be carried away by his instincts or do crazy things, which caused him to win battles, or get into trouble.

However, when he reached adulthood, Anakin (although he remained with those characteristics) was a full and right Jedi master, managing to better control his impulses and childish moments to put them aside and protect the people he loves (among them Senator Padmé Amidala).

Vader values the dark side of the force, and if he has the opportunity to get what he wants with it, he will take it. Although sometimes he is shown to be somewhat funny, Darth Vader tends to torture both his enemies and his own allies.

That arrogant and somewhat narcissistic personality tends to be unique to the Sith of the dark side of the Force, showing that he was completely drawn to it, but nevertheless, at the end of the Civil War, he did not hesitate to help his son when he needed his help to defeat the Emperor.

Powers and Abilities[]

Since childhood having a connection with the Force, Anakin Skywalker was trained by Master Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Jedi arts of the light side of the Force. During the Clone Wars, the names of Skywalker and Kenobi were widely recognized throughout the Galaxy for their great skills as Jedi, with Anakin being considered the most powerful, but reckless.

After being led to the dark side of the Force by Darth Sidious, Anakin's abilities were fueled by the rage and fury that contained him, thus becoming Darth Vader. His lightsaber skills surpass those of any other Jedi, maintaining his role as the warrior of prophecy.

Darth Vader seems to cleverly manipulate the Dark Side of the Force to benefit in his fights, even in interrogation situations. He often uses the trick of choking his opponent from time to time. Although he masters many of the typical skills of a Jedi and a Sith, Vader is unable to create electric bolts of force.

As for his lightsaber skills, Vader was able to kill most of the Jedi Council of the Galactic Republic, which is why it is known that he surpassed all of them in those fighting expectations, however, the intellect of his opponents sometimes tends to harm him, but in a fair fight Vader always seems to win.

Symbol of the saga[]

Darth Vader has appeared in a total of seventeen sets, being recognized as one of the most frequently packaged minifigures, but is below Luke Skywalker who appears in twenty-eight sets. He is considered the representation of the LEGO Star Wars line to some extent, after Darth Vader being the most well-known Star Wars character, and having been in the first 6 movies. He was released in the set 8017 Darth Vader's TIE Fighter to symbolize the 10th anniversary of LEGO and Star Wars. His helmet was on the box art of the Episode III: Revenge of the Sith line.

He has appeared in every single LEGO Star Wars video game so far. He is the last unlockable character in LEGO Star Wars: The Videogame, which can only be unlocked after finding all the minikits in the game, making him one of the hardest characters to unlock. He also has a cameo in LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures. He is also on the cover of the book LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary.

Trivia[]

  • The burned variants of Anakin include all of his limbs, even though he lost both of his legs and his left arm in a duel with Obi-Wan Kenobi before he burned up. Also, Anakin loses his legs and his arm in LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game, but retains his hair and does not catch fire.
  • In the LEGO Star Wars animated movie and in The Quest for R2D2, Anakin has black arms instead of his brown arms that his original Clone Wars variant used.
  • In the film The Padawan Menace, Anakin is seen with the torso and legs used for the original Jedi Knight variant, but with the toupee used in The Clone Wars Anakin variant and brown arms instead of the usual black arms.
  • In LEGO Star Wars: The Videogame, young Anakin is seen with short blonde hair in a couple of cinematics. Neither of his physical variants have this same toupee. His in-game Padawan form also has a different appearance than any of his physical variants.
  • In the film The Quest For R2-D2, Anakin finds Darth Vader's TIE Advanced in the "bad guys' secret base" and when he looks at it, his shadow is that of Darth Vader.
  • In LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, the "Geonosis Arena" version of Anakin has the same torso and legs as his first physical Padawan variant, but his hair is from his Clone Wars variant. His eyes are also black with white pupils throughout the game instead of the usual blue eyes.
  • In Revenge of the Brick, Anakin resembles the first Jedi Knight variant, but with additional detailing and brown arms instead of black ones.
  • On many official LEGO Star Wars posters, the first Clone Wars variant of Anakin has black arms.
  • In ''The Yoda Chronicles'', he is voiced by Kirby Morrow, who also voices Cole in Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu.
  • On a Nintendo DS Stylus pack, Anakin (Clone Wars) was released with a Clone Trooper head.
  • On some of the Imperial Star Destroyer 6211 sets, Darth Vader was printed with eyebrows.
  • LEGO produced a red version of Darth Vader's helmet for mold testing purposes; however, it was not included in any sets. This colored version is available through Bricklink, giving it the freedom to be considered an official LEGO piece. It is the exact same piece as Darth Vader's helmet, except it is red.
  • Darth Vader has appeared in six Star Wars sub-themes: Episodes III, IV, V, VI, Rebels, and Legends. His appearance in 2004's TIE Collection 10131 marked his first appearance in an Expanded Universe set (7672 Rogue Shadow was his second).
  • He appears in two UCS sets, 10212 UCS Imperial Shuttle and 10221 UCS Super Star Destroyer.
  • Darth Vader appeared on the boxes of the 2008 and 2014 sets.
  • From 2005 to 2008, Darth Vader was updated to remove his eyebrows to match the 2004 update for Episode VI Return of the Jedi to match Anakin Skywalker's burned eyebrows in Episode III Revenge of the Sith. However, beginning in 2008, the minifigure once again had eyebrows.
