Eventually she falls in love with Rick and the two marry and lead the community of Alexandria. She sadly dies from a walker bite after sacrificing her life to save Eugene Porter. In spite of her death she encouraged Rick to continue to fight for his cause and create a better world. Twenty five years after her death, Andrea's stepson Carl names his daughter after her to honor her legacy.

Andrea was a tall young woman between the ages of twenty-five and twenty-nine. She had long blonde hair usually in the style of a ponytail and had freckles on her cheeks. After her encounter with Thomas Richards she gained a scar on her left cheek and another one on her forhead after being shot during the Governer's assualt. Her attire intially consisted of a blue sweater and jeans. During her stay at the prison she wore a orange jumpsuit like everybody else. After the fall of the prision and the road trip to D.C she wore a tank top shirt with and exposed midriff and she wore Dale's hat to remeber him by, although she later stooped doing so when she decided to move on from his death. By the time of the war with the Whisperer's she sprorted a brown cowboy hat as well as a poncho.

Personality[]

Andrea was always very strong, resilent and bright young woman. She was able to easily adapt to the apoclypse and had great confidence in her abilties, like her talent for sharp shooting and marksmanship. She proved herself to be an integral member of Rick's group thanks to her bravery, skill and loyalty as she was more than willing to offer her aid when it was needed.

Synopsis[]

Andrea Harrison was born in 1978, and grew up with her younger sister Amy. She at some point attended university ans worked as a clerk for a law firm. In the summer of 2003, she drove her sister back to college during a road ship. The two did this to bond with eachother and thought of it as a sort of ritual. However their car broke down and they were picked up by Dale Horvath who offered them a ride in his RV. Dale, Amy and Andrea travel to Atlanta only to find the place overrun with the undead. They set up a campsite along the outskirts of thre city where they were joined by several other surivors.

Days Gone By[]

Andrea and Amy are first seen emerging from Dale’s RV when Rick Grimes arrives at the camp and reunites with his family. A few days later after some close calls with a few zombies Shane and Rick decide to train the group to use firearms in case of emergencies. To their surprise Andrea proves to be the most proficient with them. Andrea claims that using a gun is easy as it’s simple “pointing and shooting” and not rocket science. Later that night the group has dinner by the campfire and confide in their lives before the outbreak. Amy decides to go back into the RV for some napkins and a bathroom break. However a zombie soon attacks her and fatally bites into her neck. Suddenly a swarm of zombies attack the camp and the group is forced to fight them off. After the battle is done Andrea is forced to tearfully put Amy down to prevent her from reanimating as a zombie.

The next day a funeral is held for Amy with everyone saying a few words to pay their respects. However, Andrea is silent with shock during the entire ceremony. After the funeral ends, everybody leaves save for Andrea who stays by her sister’s grave and cries. Afterwards Dale comforts Andrea in his RV. Later on things get worse when Jim’s Walker bit infects him and he is on the brink of turning. As per his wishes they leave him to reanimate. Eventually later on Shane betrays the group and tries to murder Rick however he is killed by Carl for it. By winter time the group opts to leave the outskirts of Atlanta in search of a better home. They end up meeting a man named Tyrese who is traveling with his daughter Julie and her boyfriend Chris.

Miles Behind Us[]

Eventually the group finds a gated community and decides to build a new life there completely unaware the place is overrun by zombies. While staying there Dale and Andrea end up falling in love and having sex giving her a semblance of happiness. However the next day all hell breaks loose when the zombies emerge and attack them. Sadly Donna losses her life and ends up dead. After they escape Carl is accidentally shot by a man named Otis but he is saved when he is taken to a farm belonging to Hershel Greene and his family whom nurse him back to health. The group then settles on the farm and takes a tour of the place. Allen however is depressed from the death of his wife. Andrea however tries to comfort him and convince him he needs to keep going on for the sake of his kids. However, Allen dosen’t want to hear it and yells at her for not losing her own business. Andrea retorts back that she knows what it’s like to lose someone as she not only lost her sister but she doesn’t even know if her other loved ones are alive either. Either way Allen still won’t hear it and tells her to leave him alone. The group is unfortunately kicked out by Hershel following the accidental death of three of his children and thus they are forced to live off the land until they find salvation in the form of an abandoned prison.

Safety Behind Bars[]

After clearing out the inner walls of the prison from Walkers they meet the last remaining inmates there. Axel, Dexter, Andrew and Thomas. That night however Tyresse’s daughter and her boyfriend ultimately die due to a suicide pact they made with each other leaving Tyresse broken. Rick then decides to invite Hershel and his kids to the farm to help them cultivate the place and grow produce. When Andrea, Billy and Tyresse are tasked with clearing out the prison gym Tyresse throws himself at the walkers presumably killing him. Things only get worse when Hershel’s daughters Rachel and Susie are mysteriously killed.

One of the prisoners is suspected to be the perpetrator and they accuse Andrew of the crime and lock him up. Later on when Andrea is doing laundry Thomas enters to room and greets her. Andrea asks if he needs help but he denies this and claims very casually that he is there to cut off her head revealing he was the killer. A fight ensues between the two and Andrea tries to shoot him but Thomas disarms her before she can. Andrea manages to escape but is sliced across the face by Thomas’ blade. Rick then stops Thomas and viciously beats him for his actions. Rick then decided to execute Thomas by hanging him. Meanwhile Andrea’s wound is patched up by Dale who tells her that she has sadly lost her earlobe, but she will still be able to hear. The night of Thomas’ execution Patrica, Otis's wife tries to spare him. This results in another tussle with him until Maggie kills him herself and leaves his body for the walkers to eat. Soon enough the other prisoners excluding Axel decide to kick Rick and his group out but they fight them off and kill Dexter forcing Andrew to flee. A woman wielding a katana named Micchone Hawthorne soon joins the prison group. The next day Andrea addresses the group and reveals that since their current clothing is beginning to wear she has made them all specially designed prison jumpsuits to wear. Later on Dale thanks Andrea for making those new outfits for the group but Andrea wished she could get rid of Dale’s hat but he says that will never happen. Andrea asks Dale if they are really going to stay in the prison but he states that for now it’s the best place for them but still suggest they keep and eye out for trouble.

Later on trouble ensues when Allen gets bitten by a Walker so Rick amputates his leg in order to stop the infection. Andrea goes to Allen’s bedside to assure him however he knows he is going to die and asks Andrea to take care of Ben and Bully for him. Later Andrea notices Michonne talking to herself and confronts her about it. However Michonne denies this vehemently. Later on she visits Allen, Ben and Billy. She questions why Otis isn’t watching them. But the twins claim that Allen is ranting about how he is going to be with their mother soon. This makes Andrea realize that Allen might not survive after all. Later on Andrea sadly tells the group that Allen has passed away and thus they are forced to put him down before he reanimates. Andrea and Dale then adopt Ben and Billy as their own to honor Allen’s final wishes. Sometime afterwards Rick, Glenn and Michonne go on an expedition to find a helicopter hoping that the people inside could help them. However this backfires and results in them getting into contact with a corrupt Community called Woodbury led by a tyrannical man who calls himself the Governor. They manage to escape with the help of a man named Cesar Martinez and a nurse Alice Warren. However, this isn’t before the Governor chops off Ricks left hand.

When they return to the prison sadly the place is overrun with Walkers and Otis loses his life in the chaos. They meet up with Andrea who holds off the Walkers with her sniper and tells them she can take them all down eventually since she has enough ammo. Later on Martinez betrays the group and tries to bring the people of Woodbury into the prison and Rick is forced to kill him. In the meantime Andrea and Dale attends Glenn’s marriage to Maggie. Rick then informs the group that eventually the people of Woodbury will find the prison and they must prepare to defend it if need be. So in the meantime, they need to prepare.

Later on to kill some time Andrea and the group play a game of basketball. The group realize that they’re running low on ammo and need more weapons so they decided to make a stop at the nearby National Guard station to get some. Andrea joins the quest but Dale is somewhat worried but Andrea assured him she will be okay. After a few hours of searching they decide to sleep for the night with Andrea accidentally waking up next to Tyresse’s feet much to her disgust. The then complains about how much she hated living in the RV. When Andrea gets out of bed she and Tyrese talk with the latter apologizing for the stench from his feet. Andrea says it doesn’t matter as they need to find the outpost fast. They then spot a walker in the distance but Andrea holds off on shooting it as she doesn’t want to waste the bullet unless absolutely necessary. Tyresse then asks to shoot it himself and Andrea coaches him on how to use the gun. However Tyresse only manages to shoot its shoulder which prompts Andrea to finish the job with a headshot. Tyresse apologizes for his ineptitude at using a gun and asks if Andrea can teach him. Andrea agrees as they will need as many shooters on hand if Woodbury actually intends to attack them like Rick believes. They eventually find the national guard station and collect the needed firearms there and some gas. Andrea then realizes that Woodbury might be using this place to get gasoline and it might be best to cripple there supply line for the foreseeable future. Thus the gang blows up the station.

On the way back to the prison Maggie requests they stop at the abandoned Walmart for further supplies. As they are taking supplies from the store Andrea notices that Maggie is getting a two cribs. Andrea knows that one of them for Lori’s baby and asks is she needs the other one because she too is pregnant. However, Maggie claims she’s only getting one just in case she does. However soon enough a group of soldiers from Woodbury surround the location. Andrea and Michonne team up and kill the enemies but In the scuffle Glenn gets shot with a shotgun but his injuries are minor thanks to the armor he was wearing. When the group returns to the prison they learn that Dale has been bitten in an attempt to activate the backup generator to assist Lori whom is giving birth.

Trivia[]

  • In the Comic Series, Andrea is two years older than Amy, versus being twelve years older in the TV Series
  • It is a misconception (albeit relatively unknown) that Charlie Adlard's version of Andrea is altered drastically to look like her sister Amy. The few sketches of Adlard's Amy and Andrea have the two appearing almost as twins, and this shows that Andrea more than likely simply quit wearing makeup to hide her freckles after the death of her sister as part of her maturation in the new world order.
  • Andrea killed more Woodbury soldiers than any other member of the group, as witnessed by her sniping many of them from the top of one of the guard towers located at the prison.
  • Andrea, along with Rick Grimes, Michonne, Abraham Ford, and Brian Blake have killed the most named characters either as a zombie or as a living person.
  • Andrea's weapon of choice seems to be an Anshütz .22 LR.
  • Andrea is one of the playable characters in The Walking Dead Board Game.
  • As of Andrea's death in Issue 167, Sophia, Carl, and Rick are the only three surviving members of the original Atlanta group.
  • Andrea has killed high ranked members of every group that have threatened or attacked Rick's group/Alexandria (Bruce and Gabe from the Woodbury Army, all the members of the Hunters, Derek from the Scavengers, and Connor from the Saviors.)
  • Andrea has killed more people than any other comic character thus far.
  • So far, out of all of the deceased main characters, Andrea has the longest lifespan with a total of 166 issues, surpassing Glenn, who survived for 99 issues, and Gabriel Stokes, who survived for 98 issues.
    • Andrea also holds the most appearances out of any deceased character in the comic with 133 appearances.
  • Both Andrea and Amy died the same way; from being bitten on the neck.
