Charles Marvin Green Jr., better known as Angry Grandpa, or simply AGP, is the titular main protagonist of the YouTube channel TheAngryGrandpaShow and a fictionalized version of the late Charles Green.
The channel consists of videos where he's portrayed as a rage-induced elderly man who destroys items that either belong to him or others. His son, Michael, is responsible for filming and uploading the rage-induced destruction videos to YouTube.
Depending on the video, he's either an anti-heroic protagonist, or the main antagonist to Michael and his other family members of the series.
Personality[]
Grandpa is usually well-known for his outbursts, meltdowns and destructive personality, usually stemming from minor issues such as neighbor problems, food, house appliances, political issues, and his son, Michael pushing his buttons to name a few.
He can also be quite gullible to pranks created by Michael, Bridgette, his grandkids, his haters/trolls, and even by media pranks. Examples of this is him being the target of pranks such as "The Walking Dead Prank" which was orchestrated by Michael.
Despite his usual cold and grumpy demeanor, Grandpa is also very selfless, loving and caring to his fans, his kids (at times) and cares about other people in which he wishes to help whoever, whenever, and however he could.
History[]
Charles Green was born on October 16, 1950 in Chatham County, Georgia. He was the youngest of two siblings. Charlie is the younger brother of the late Charlene Green, who is his older sister. His parents were Dorothy Green and Charles Marvin Green Sr., who was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II.
As the result of his father sustaining a life-threatening car accident in 1959, Charlie and his family struggled financially. On top of this, he was bullied for his weight issues, being obese and being poor.
After a period of being estranged from his family in the 1960's and going on hippie road trips, he would eventually mend and reconcile with his mother and sister when he returned home.
Sometime in 1982, Charlie would marry Tina Sharp and would have four children, first was Charles Green III, second was Jennifer, third was Kimberly, and his youngest was Michael.
Unfortunately, the injuries in Charles Green Sr. were too great and would sadly lead to his death on July 6, 1987. His mother would pass away on December 25, 1999 from rectum cancer, and his sister would pass away on December 27, 2012 from a lung infection due to smoking.
In 2007, The Angry Grandpa Show would begin with a video of Grandpa freaking out on Christmas day where he would begrudgingly reveal to his grandkids that Santa isn't real. From there, the series received strong critical acclaim due to the comedic, unfiltered, and entertaining the series centered around.
On February 10, 2017, it was revealed by Michael that Grandpa had skin cancer and developed pneumonia as a result. He had surgery to remove a tumor on his back on March 8, 2017. Grandpa's cancer went to cancellation. Unfortunately, he would later develop cirrhosis of the liver, causing Grandpa's health to deteriorate. Grandpa would eventually succumb to his poor health on December 10, 2017 at age 67.
As of today, Grandpa's legacy and achievements are acknowledged by his kids, grandkids, and fans alike. Michael keeps his father's memories alive through his videos and shared stories. Grandpa has been considered by many celebrities and fans alike as a "pioneer" in YouTube's history and is praised for being both entertaining through his anger-induced destruction videos and wholesome through his interaction and life advice to his fans.
Heroic Role[]
Despite being portrayed as a violent and unpredictable old man in many videos, even serving as an antagonist to his other family members from time to time, a lot of his anger and frustration is due to his past experiences.
Although he frequently destroys his loved ones' property in fits of rage, he does genuinely love and care for them. He looked after them for most of his life and dedicated his last few years to spreading love and positivity through his entertaining videos, including teaching his viewers to be better than him and spend whatever time they have with their loved ones while they're still around.
Additionally, despite being an on & off antagonist and the channel being named after him, he is not the real villain. The real villains of the series are his his eldest son and grandson, Charlie Green III and Joshua Watson (JC) and occasionally his youngest son, Michael, both (or all three if Michael is included) exploited AGP to make money on YouTube, by encouraging Michael to pull drastic pranks on AGP, or purposefully anger him to the point he would destroy their belongings, so they could film and upload it for profit.
