“ | My mum has a saying for this sort of thing: (quoting in Swahili) it means "The good person is indistinguishable from the bad". I've heard it a thousand times... and I never really thought about it until that day, when we got the news. And then I couldn't stop thinking about it. | „ |
~ Ani hearing about Bryce's murder. |
Amarowat Anysia "Ani" Achola is the narrating protagonist of the third season, and one of the tritagonists of the fourth season of the Netflix show 13 Reasons Why.
At the begginning of the season she starts attending Liberty High school.
The third season is split into two storylines, one showing the events leading up to the death of Bryce Walker and the other showing the aftermath of his death. Both storylines are shown at the same time and are narrated by Ani who is telling the story to Deputy Standall at the police station. It turns out the reason she is telling Deputy Standall all this is because she has discovered that Bryce's killer was her close friend Alex Standall and she is trying to frame the recently deceased rapist and attempted murderer Montgomery De La Cruz for the murder and rescue him from consequences for his crime.
She was portrayed by Grace Saif.
Trivia[]
- Ani’s role in the third season received criticisms, due to her involvement, narration and the impact.
- Ani is possibly bisexual, and presumably has a crush on Jessica, although this is unconfirmed and possibly may not be true.
