Anissa Pierce is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Jennifer Pierce) of the CW series Black Lightning. She is the wife of Grace Choi, the first born daughter of Lynn Stewart and Jefferson Paris and the older sister of Jennifer Pierce. Anissa inherited the metagene from her father. However, unlike Jefferson and Jennifer, Anissa manifested strength and vulnerability and began her independent vigilantism. However, she was recruited into her father's team by Jefferson and Peter Gambi.

Anissa, along with the rest of the residents on Earth-TUD05, were hit by an antimatter wave set off by the Anti-Monitor, only to be restored a month later on Earth-Prime by Oliver Queen and the Paragons.
Personality[]
Anissa Pierce is an intelligent and openn-minded individual. However, she often joined protests that often got her in trouble with the gang and the police. She is selfless, brave, kind and innocent. She is also protective of her friends and family and the innocent citizens of Freeland. However, she is quite ruthless, even opposing members of the A.S.A while her father was locked away.

- Metahuman Physiology: Anissa inherited the meta-gene from her father and indirectly, her great-uncle, The first metahuman. She possessed the ability to control the density of their body.
- Density control: Anissa holds her own breath to manipulate her body’s density
- Superhuman Strength: After being abducted by the 100, Anissa manifested er super strength by breaking the sink and throwing a military tank in the air.

- Stomp induced shockwaves: Like her thunderclap, Aissa can generate shockwaves by stomping on the ground.
- Thunderclap: Anissa produced powerful shockwaves by clapping her hands together. She displayed this ability during her fight against Syon ide and blasted through a wooden door and cars.
- Invulnerability: Because of her density control, Anissa becomes invulnerable. She is durable enough to survive a grenade explosion that merely knocked her out. She is also bulletproof and immunity to electricity.
- Accelerated Healing Factor: Because Anissa’s cellular damage can accelerate, Anissa can heal faster.

- Peak of human physical condition: Anissa was already in great physical shape before discovering her powers. She has impressive strength, can swiftly incapacitate people, such as flipping a member of the 100 with one flip, quick reflexes and quick reaction when it comes to speed. Anissa can even run up walls and anticipate bullets fired from close range.
- Acrobatics/Free-running: Anissa has honed her free-running abilities to an impressive level since taking on the mantle of Thunder. She now possesses the remarkable skill to gracefully descend from great heights without sustaining any injuries. Her agility and precision allow her to effortlessly dodge and launch counter-attacks from multiple directions, all while maintaining her balance with exceptional poise.

- Skilled medic: As a medical school student, Anissa possesses medical skills.
- Pedagogy: Anissa was a health educator for three days a week at Garfield High School
- Lip reading: Anissa has been shown to be good at reading lips and even taught Jennifer how to.
- Master hand-to-hand combatant/Martial artist: Anissa became well-versed in combat by her father. She fought against Syonide and briefly overpowered Looker for a while. She is well-versed in Kickboxing, Taekwondo, Karate, Aikido, Muay Thai, Jit-Jutsu, Krav Maga and Judo.
Weaknesses[]
- Breath control: All of Anissa's powers, except for her accelerated healing factor, are triggered when she inhales deeply. Because of this, when she is in between breaths, she is as vulnerable as a human as seen during her fights with Syonide, The A.S.A, and New Wave.
- Khalil's Venom: After being exposed to Khalil's venom, Anissa's powers were rendered useless to the point of the venom almost killing her.
