Appa (Netflix)

Appa is a major protagonist of the Netflix live-action series Avatar: The Last Airbender, which was based on the original animated series of the same name. He is Aang's pet flying bison who serves as Team Avatar's transportation.

He was voiced by Matt Yang King.

Biography[]

Aang[]

That night, Appa went to comfort Aang about facing his duties as the Avatar when he's supposed to have a normal life like he always do before they later flied away from the Southern Air Temple. While flying at the ocean, they noticed the storm's coming and decide to return back home, but the storm's too much to handle so much that they almost drowned after the large waves swept them away. Despite this, Appa was later kept alive (albeit unconciously) for hundred of years after Aang unknowingly activates the Avatar State to creates an iceberg for them to hibernate under suspended animation.

After Aang was finally freed from the iceberg, Appa was awakened from his hibernation as well. When Aang is looking for him, Appa flies up to the Southern Water Tribe and landed in front of him and its people. Later, Appa agrees to take Katara and Sokka with him to help them rescue Aang from Zuko and the Fire Nation. He later takes them to the Southern Air Temple where they discovered what happened a hundred years ago.

Warriors[]

He later brings the Team Avatar to the Kyoshi Island, which he was spotted by one of the Fire Nation soldiers and later reported it to Commander Zhao, leading him to invade the Kyoshi Island to search for the Avatar.

Omashu[]

He brings the Team Avatar to Omashu after they saw a young boy flying with his gilder.

Into the Dark[]

Later that night, he was seen above the sky when Zuko and Iroh were on a boat.

Spirited Away[]

While Team Avatar are on the run from the Fire Nation soldiers, Appa managed to escort them away and brings them to the burned forest caused by the Fire Nation. Later that night, he and Momo were forced to stay with Katara and Sokka while Aang going to the Crescent Island to talk with Roku.

Masks[]

Appa and Momo are seen watching Aang returns back to the forest after he escaped from being held captive by Zhao from the Pohuai Stronghold with the help of the Blue Spirit.
