Aquaman was the King of Atlantis, the husband of Mera, the father of Arthur Curry, Jr., the brother of Orm, and the mentor of Aqualad. With his superhuman Atlantean physiology and mastery of the ocean, Aquaman protected both his own territory and the surface world from evil. Arthur was often accompanied by his protégé Aqualad.
A member of the Justice League and Justice League International, Curry frequently partnered up with Batman. Aquaman had an outgoing and jolly personality, and enjoyed fighting crime as his hobby. However, he was often berated by his wife Mera as she wanted him to spend more time with his family.
Personality[]
Both valiant and vainglorious, Aquaman is the barrel-chested King of Atlantis and, in his own eyes, is as heroic as they come. Fearless and loyal, he is the first to answer when duty calls, and he relishes the glory of the fight. He has the disposition of a hearty Greek God and the ego and brawn to match.
Powers & Abilities[]
Aquaman's most widely recognized power is the telepathic ability to communicate with marine life, which he can summon from great distances. Although this power is most often and most easily used on marine life, Aquaman has at times demonstrated the ability to affect any being that lives upon the sea (e.g., sea eagles), or even any being evolved from marine life (e.g., humans). Aquaman has a number of superhuman powers, most of which derive from the fact that he is adapted to live in the depths of the ocean. He has the ability to breathe underwater. He possesses superhuman durability high enough to remain unaffected by the immense pressure and the cold temperature of the ocean depths, this also makes him tough enough to be invulnerable to machine gun fire. He also possesses superhuman strength. He can swim at very high speeds, capable of reaching speeds of 10,000 feet per second and can swim up Niagara Falls. He can see in near total darkness and has enhanced hearing granting limited sonar. Although he can remain underwater indefinitely without suffering any ill effects, Aquaman grows weak if he remains on land for extended periods. Another facet to his being that only he seems to possess, is Arthur's ability to control and guide the path of any and all sources of water he has accessible proximity to, more than once he has shaped and molded water for a variety of purposes such as creating hard water armaments or projecting high pressure stream blades that can cut steel. His most display was when he conjured up a huge tidal wave to sweep away tanks and fleets of soldiers.
Trivia[]
Aquaman was considered a breakout character. He was so popular that Bat-Mite made reference to the character's reception in the series finale.
In "Bold Beginnings" it is revealed that he didn't had a beard on the day he met Batman and in the prologue of "Sidekicks Assemble", Aquaman didn't had his beard when he was a member of Justice League which means that he grew it somewhere after these events.
