General Arakiya, also known as the Spirit Eater and Two, is a supporting character in the 2014 Japanese dark fantasy light novel series Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World and a major character in its 2015 spin-off light novel prequel series Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World Ex.

Arakiya was a reticent dog-person who served as "Two," the second highest-ranked of the Nine Divine Generals of the Volakian Empire. She was the last known member of the spirit eaters, a group of people that consumed spirits to gain greater power. Having been raised by the noble House Benedict since birth, she was fiercely loyal to her adoptive sister/mistress Prisca Benedict.

Appearance[]

Arakiya was a dog-person, a type of demi-human characterized by dog-like physical features. Her dog-like features consisted of a silver tail with black ends and a pair of large ears that she had in place of normal human ears. She had brown skin, a slender athletic build, and was considered very beautiful. Her eyes were both naturally crimson red, though her left eye was milky white as a result of it being blinded. She had chin-length silver hair that framed her face, with a single red strand of hair on the right side of her head.

Powers & Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Spirit Consumption
    • Earth Manipulation
    • Elemental Mimicry: Arakiya was able to transform her body to mimic the physical properties of whatever element the spirits she consumed were comprised of. It was harder for certain creatures to detect her when she was transformed in such a way because her physiology was more akin to a spirit's. Spirits were beings intrinsically linked to the environment around them and so, by becoming like a spirit, Arakiya blended into her environment more naturally.
    • Light Manipulation
    • Temperature Manipulation: By consuming and using the power of a fire-aligned spirit, Arakiya was able to control the temperature around her to generate and manipulate fire. Even with the power of an inconsequential lesser spirit, the Spirit Eater could produce calamitous amounts of normal or blue fire that could easily incinerate her enemies or lay waste to an entire city. By transforming her body into fire, Arakiya could fly and it became almost impossible to touch her without receiving significant burns. Because her body wasn't entirely tangible while transformed into flames, it was also difficult to deal any meaningful damage to her through conventional means.
    • Water Manipulation: By consuming and using the power of a water-aligned spirit, Arakiya was able to generate and manipulate water. Additionally, by transforming her body into water, Arakiya could swim at increased speeds and submerge herself in water indefinitely without the need for air.
    • Wind Manipulation
