The Arcturians are a highly advanced humanoid species native to a planet in the Arcturus system, orbiting a very bright star in the constellation of Bootes. According to Edgar Cayce, the Arcturians are one of the most technologically- and spiritually-advanced civilizations, having ascended to dimensions of existence higher than 3D. In general, one of the main goals of the Arcturian race seems to be contacting humans on Earth to inspire them with the possibilities of spiritual ascension, enlightenment, and positive extraterrestrial contact.
The Arcturians are part of a galactic family which includes many beings of higher consciousnesses whom have evolved beyond the three-dimensional awareness of modern-day Earthling consciousness. Arcturians are beings closely associated with benevolence and spirituality. According to followers of the galactic family, Jesus Christ was an Arcturian who incarnated on Earth.

According to the history of their civilization, the Arcturians were not descendants of the Lyran-Vegans (the seed race of other races) or the Nordics. Allegedly, the Arcturians come from a consciousness separate from that of the Milky Way galaxy. The Arcturians would have the role of Spirit Guardians. According to those contacted, such as Norma Milanovich, the Arcturians have a lifespan of 350-400 years. These beings do not feed on physical, nutritive food but rather on an "effervescent" liquid that serves the reconstitution of their bodies. The spiritual and scientific development of these beings would allow them not to age rapidly, and to move and travel beyond the time-space continuum. These beings have a collective consciousness, a sort of hive mind, although not quite a "hive" mentality as most would interpret the term; each Arthurian has a personality, and this allows them to behave uniquely, as do humans on Earth. According to New Age author Lyssa Royal, in the book The Prism of Lyra, the Arcturians are master healers and are closely-related to the beings of Sirius A. Together, they work in an Arcturian-Syrian Collective Matrix for the good of Earth, through contact.

Arcturians are usually described as humanoid-looking beings of average (or shorter) stature with skin that is blue, greenish or whiteish, with larger, more almond-shaped eyes compared to most earthlings. They are reported to possess three fingers. Mentally, Arcturians are existing on advanced dimensions, and thus have acquired the ability to move objects with their minds (telekinesis) as well as being able to communicate strictly mind-to-mind (telepathy, or "mind-speak"). Arcturians are a collective of higher dimensional beings, and together manifest a consciousness and awareness into the fifth dimension (5D). The Arcturians are the guardians and protectors of higher consciousness, of pure spirit. The actual "masters of the soul" are the ones who guide the souls within the higher realms. They have been drawn into the energy fields of human consciousness in response to a call that has been sounding, from within the heart of humanity, to build a bridge between the third dimension of the human realm and the upper dimensions of the spiritual realm. Thanks to this connection, hearts will become more open and humanity's ability to truly love will be greatly improved. One of the aspects of the Arcturian’s mission is to assist all of Earth in healing and ascending, both individually and as a collective. They are helping to stabilize the planet, which itself wants to ascend and evolve. The Arcturians are leading many chosen individuals on the path of ascension. One of the most frequent channelers who has been contacted is called "Juliano". Another aspect of the Arcturian mission is helping Earth and her species develop for the next steps in evolution, and to integrate the Earth human populace with the galactic family. Goals include universal peace, universal love, acceptance and compassion for all living things, and an ability to understand and accept the principles of ascension. Ascension means that one is able to transport and move consciousness and the physical body into the fourth and fifth dimensions and beyond.
