Arisu Suzushima is the tritagonist of Sega's arcade music game series O.N.G.E.K.I.. She is a first-year high school student who is a student council member of Kanadezaka Academy, and the leader of the R.B.P. unit with a mysterious air, usually appearing in her blue tanuki fursuit in public, assuming the identity of Kuma. She appears as the overarching protagonist of the first chapter, and a major protagonist in the second chapter onwards.
She is voiced and portrayed in live action at concerts by Maria Naganawa, who also voices Kanna Kamui from Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, Laffey in Azur Lane, Lathna in Dragalia Lost and Nazuna Hiwatashi in Brand New Animal.
Personality[]
Arisu is shown to be a highly mysterious young woman who usually makes public appearances throughout Kanadezaka in her blue tanuki fursuit and is said to be "in charge" of certain affairs throughout the school behind the scenes. While assuming her Kuma personality in her kigurumi, she speaks in a literary tone not dissimilar to most historical-sounding characters in Japanese media with a tendency to go overboard with hyperboles. She is shown to be an animal lover who owns two dogs, Galbi and Roast who loves to collect kigurumi. Arisu also has an affinity to fast food and possesses a very large appetite, which is best showcased in her original vocal song "Pakupaku Girl" made for April Fools 2020 which plays on it, rapping about her love for food. She also retains her care for her older sister Setsuna even after she tried to replace her as principal in Kanadezaka Academy, telling Asterism not to blame her anymore as she had protected her by going overseas on behalf as she would go wrong there.
Biography[]
Early life[]
3 years before the events of the game, Arisu's parents separated leading to her family being in disarray, with the last day they happened to be together being the very day Asterism watched the Ongeki Primera’s performance in Budokan which they also witnessed. The plan was to have Arisu go overseas in the custody of her father while Setsuna stayed back in Japan with her mother. However, Setsuna persuaded her father for her to go abroad in place of Arisu who stayed back with her mother to protect her knowing very well of the uncertainties of the foreign Shooter academy, where she studied there until her return to Japan.
Kanadezaka Shooter Fest[]
Arisu first presents herself in her fursuit to Asterism and hugs the trio, complementing them for being able to defeat Akane Osaka in a battle. After a short conversation, they spar with her, and Arisu takes off her fursuit and reveals herself to be next in line to be the Student Council President of Kanadezaka Private Academy. In the second chapter, she and the rest of the RBP call up the rest of the heroes to a shopping mall to work part time to raise funds for Kanadezaka's Shooter Fest. The RBP work at a child's daycare in the mall while Arisu takes care of Akane and the kids' antics. In spite of being spied on by a young girl, they eventually let her be. On the final day of the fundraiser, Akari asks if Arisu knows the young girl. Kaede responds saying she's Saki's younger sister Mia Kashiwagi who is a second-year middle school student. Arisu wonders if she was sent over for reconnaissance, before Akane commences the Shooter Fest. Kaede adds that since everyone has worked a bit harder than they anticipated, they had a surplus which Arisu suggested to be spent on a celebration joined in by the rest.
During the Shooter Fest, she appears in her fursuit to treat the Marching Pockets to a massive feast to comfort them after their loss to Asterism there. Arisu gives Tsumugi a full set of all 5 colors of Goat-san plush toys including the rare golden one and lets Chinatsu spar with her in an Ongeki showdown with an additional surplus of tickets for the Marching Pockets to tour the festival. It is revealed in Summer Memory that Arisu also invited the Marching Pockets to her private seaside home where they met Asterism, on the following day after the events of Chapter 3.
Setsuna's return[]
During one monthly student assembly, as Arisu prepares to have her customary speech, her older sister Setsuna arrives to the podium, believing that Arisu is still not able to properly converse without the fursuit. Kaede concludes that Setsuna is indeed Arisu's older sister despite the different surnames, who had studied abroad until the present. Planning to fix the "sorry state of affairs" Kanadezaka Academy has fallen into, she removes Arisu from power by coup d'etat. Swearing to change the so-called lackluster discipline under Arisu’s leadership, planning to bring forth glory and victory, Setsuna sets up several rules to get the ire of the audience which would charge her negative Ongeki, completely driven by bad emotions. Arisu argues saying that it was Kanadezaka was meant to be, but Setsuna tells her to shut up and watch from the sidelines calling her a "hopeless little sister who still until now is unable to properly express any of her opinions to her sibling at all". An angered Akane then calls her out for trying to deny Arisu's hard work while being the so-called "principal," and realizing that she still has her role as the president of the student council, utilizes emergency powers to declare an emergency election for who would become the next principal.
Trivia[]
- She is the second shortest playable character in O.N.G.E.K.I., after Tsumugi Shinonome.
