The Armored Response Coalition, also known as the ARC, are minor heroes in Doom Eternal and its DLCs. They are an alliance of human survivors led by Dr. Samuel Hayden, the cybernetic human form of the renegade Maykr Seraph Samur, who fought against the demonic invasion of Earth until the arrival of the Doom Slayer. They are comprised of the forces of the Allied Nations, presumably Doom's equivalent of the United Nations, a faction of the Union Aerospace Corporation who did not become demonic cultists, and presumably the marine corps featured in previous installments. With the help of Samur, they had access to highly advanced technology based on Argent Energy, including energy weaponry and sophisticated mech suits, yet they were beginning to fall to the demons when the Doom Slayer returned.
ARC personnel, aside from Samur and the Intern, were voiced by David Boat, Edward Bosco, Kyle Chapple, Piotr Michael, Jeannie Tirado, Kevin Schon, Keith Silverstein, and Bill Rogers.
History[]
Foundation[]
In 2149, after years of having the entire planet Earth run on Argent Energy provided by the Union Aerospace Corporation (UAC), an invasion of demons on Mars, the location of Argent-producing rifts, ended with an immortal dimension-traveling superhuman marine known as the Doom Slayer destroying both the demonic forces and the Argent rifts, which were truly Hell rifts, as the energy was demonic in origin. However, Samuel Hayden, the cyborg CEO of the UAC, retrieved an artifact known as the Demonic Crucible, which flowed with Argent Energy, and banished the Doom Slayer to unknown parts of space, taking the Demonic Crucible back to Earth, which was now in a crisis as the Argent Energy grids collapsed. Samuel appeared before the Allied Nations, and presented the Demonic Crucible, using it as the new power source for the grids, making a new form of Argent Energy, Argent-Synthesis, which was able to recreate the old high-yield Argent Energy. Additionally, after recounting the events of the demonic invasion, Samuel and the AN immediately went to work building up Earth's military capabilities in anticipation of another demonic invasion, with the UAC building a massive energy cannon, the BFG-10000, on the moon of Phobos.

Samuel Hayden addressing human survivors during the formation of the ARC
Shortly afterwards, in 2151, demonic forces led by extradimensional aliens known as Maykrs invaded Earth, as the Doom Slayer's actions had destroyed Hell's own central Argent production plant, and the Maykrs, who used the energy to remain immortal, wished to harvest the souls of mankind for a new Argent Energy source. While Earth's militaries responded immediately, the demons still tore across the planet within a month, killing over 60% of the human population as a large chunk of the UAC split off into a faction of demonic cultists. Survivors fled to fortified compounds or left the planet in cryogenic spacecraft, as the demons began terraforming Earth via Hellgrowth, turning vast swathes of the planet into uninhabitable wastelands. The remaining members of the Allied Nations and their militaries, consisting of the United States, other NATO nations, and nations of Continental Europe, banded together with Samuel Hayden and any members of the UAC still loyal to him, forming the Armored Response Coalition (ARC). Nations and boundaries ceased to exist, with the ARC effectively becoming a world government.
War against Hell[]

ARC mechs attack the Super Gore Nest
Immediately, the ARC set up two command centers: the ARC Complex, a static landlocked fortress, and the Mobile Command Carrier, a giant aircraft carrier designed for long-range strike operations. The ARC poured every resource into setting up protective havens for survivors and trying to beat back the invaders through any means necessary, fabricating advanced exosuits and war mechs of varying sizes, also appearing to modify their average soldiers to possess cybernetic Argent Energy arm cannons. The Mobile Command Carrier put extra effort into locating and analyzing the Super Gore Nest, a massive Hellgrowth in central Europe, formed at the start of the invasion, that was creating rifts large enough to beam in entire armies of demons and doing most of the terraforming. Despite the ARC's highly advanced technology, their forces were unable to stop the demons, with any ARC soldiers who fell in battle being immediately resurrected as demonic zombies, while ARC strongholds began falling. Deciding to take the Hellgrowth head-on, the ARC led an assault on the Super Gore Nest, utilizing 4 US Battle Mech divisions, the European Long Range Naval Artillery Barrage Fleet, 27 US Night Bird Apaches, 3 NATO Shock Troop battalions, 2 European Rapid Response Levi-Tank divisions, and 18000 ARC Special Forces units. However, thousands of demons responded to the assault, with over 8000 Gargoyle demons taking 78% of the Naval Artillery Barrage Fleet out of commission, forcing them to retreat out of artillery range, but the ground troops advanced regardless. A few platoons managed to find the center of the Super Gore Nest, growing out of a power plant, but all ARC forces were eventually killed, their bodies added to the biomass of the Gore Nest or revived as zombies under demonic service.
Afterwards, Samuel Hayden, who had been telling his subordinates of the impending return of the Doom Slayer, attempted to lead a counterattack against the advancing demons, known as Operation Hellbreaker, personally charging into battle while wielding the Demonic Crucible. The operation ultimately failed, and both Samuel's heavily damaged cybernetic chassis and the Demonic Crucible were retrieved by ARC soldiers and brought back to the ARC Complex, where he was hooked up to life support. However, the ARC scientists found that they were unable to repair Hayden's body, as he was truly not a cyborg human, but actually a renegade Maykr named Samur who had transferred his mind into a human body and then again into a cybernetic one, with his cybernetics being Maykr-tech and thus far too alien for the ARC to decipher. Without Samur, the ARC faced collapse as demons sieged the ARC Complex, Samur being tended to by a skeleton crew of scientists.
Doom Eternal[]
However, just then, the Doom Slayer returned in a Night Sentinel flagship, single-handedly destroying two of the three Hell Priests commanding the demonic ground forces, and destroying the Super Gore Nest, slowing the demonic terraforming. The Slayer later ventured to the ARC Complex, seeking Samur to help him find the last Hell Priest, Deag Grav, who had fled Earth. The Slayer arrived at the ARC Complex as it was breached by the demons, killing the invaders and finding the floor of the complex' central tower, which held Samur's body. One ARC scientist, an intern, greeted the Doom Slayer with excitement, letting him take the Demonic Crucible, while other scientists backed away from the Slayer out of fear of his raw strength. The intern then led the Slayer to Samur's body, but when the Slayer pulled Samur out of the stasis pod, a demonic being known as a Marauder teleported into the room, scaring off all other ARC personnel present as the Slayer fought and killed the Marauder, before leaving back to his ship with Samur. With the demons cleared, the ARC personnel were able to flee to the Mobile Command Carrier. Soon, the Slayer went to Phobos, finding UAC personnel leading a failing defense against demons attacking the facility, who all fled from the Slayer, allowing him to commandeer the BFG-10000 and shoot a hole into Mars, allowing him to access a slipgate held in its core that led to Deag Grav. In time, the Slayer destroyed both the Maykrs and the Icon of Sin, a powerful demonic Titan whose very presence warped the fabric of reality and threatened the entire universe, ending the invasion of Earth. With most of the demonic armies killed by the Slayer or banished from Earth by the Icon's death, the ARC immediately began to deploy troops across the planet to clear any demonic stragglers.
Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 1[]
The Doom Slayer then arrived on the carrier to find the body of a Maykr Seraph held in an overrun aquatic ARC facility, now not as feared by the ARC. Among the carrier's personnel was the intern, who used the ship's technology to teleport the Slayer to the facility. When the Slayer retrieved the Seraph, it was discovered that it was actually Samur's original body, and his body was deteriorating, revealed when his mind was uploaded back into it. From then on, the intern acted as the Slayer's guide, remaining on the comms with the Slayer as he traveled through the blood swamps of Hell to retrieve the Life Sphere of an entity known as The Father, who could save Samur's body from transfiguring into a monster. However, the Doom Slayer refused to let any being of such power exist anymore, as The Father was the previous ruler of the Maykrs, and instead destroyed the Life Sphere, reducing The Father to an incorporeal presence, and retrieved that of Davoth, the original Dark Lord of Hell, returning to the carrier with it. Upon seeing the Life Sphere of Davoth, the ARC personnel fled, except for the intern, who quickly deduced that the Slayer meant to revive Davoth into a physical form, which would trap his essence in one body that could then be killed and end Hell's threat forever. As such, he teleported the Slayer to the Equestrian Holt of Urdak, where the Slayer fought and defeated a transfigured Samur before reviving Davoth, finding that Davoth was a dark reflection of himself.
Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 2[]
With the other ARC personnel still absent from the carrier, the intern remained in contact with the Slayer as he chased Davoth across worlds to the Hell city of Immora, discovering ancient secrets of the Maykrs and the planet Argent D'Nur, where the Slayer had served as a Night Sentinel. During the Slayer's assault on Immora, where he was joined by the last armies of Night Sentinels, the intern remained in contact with him up until he reached Davoth's palace, where the intern lost connection with the Slayer. The Slayer eventually killed Davoth, and Hell's power collapsed in on itself, all demons outside of Hell being instantly destroyed, with the disintegration of an Imp demon witnessed by a UAC soldier who was guarding an ARC scientist. In the wake of the Slayer's victory, the ARC presumably rebuilt human civilization, although no longer under Samur's leadership and without Argent Energy.
