Major Arthur Crowley is a supporting character in the 2017 video game Call of Duty: WWII, only appearing in the two missions "S.O.E." and "Liberation".

He is a agent of the S.O.E. who works with the 1st Infantry Division in intercepting a German train carrying V-2 rockets, and helping French Resistance leader Rousseau liberate Paris.

He is voiced by David Alpay.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Arthur Crowley was born in 1904, London, England to unnamed parents, and not much is known about his early life. Presumably by the 1930s, Crowley joined the British Special Operations Executive, rising to the rank of major and becoming friends with fellow agent Vivian Harris. During World War II, the two did multiple missions together, notably parachuting into Vercor and ambushing a Gestapo patrol.

Later in 1943, Crowley participated in the Battle of Kasserine, fighting alongside Joseph Turner and William Pierson. The latter disobeyed orders to save his men, but they were killed, causing the Allies to lose the battle. Crowley also knew of the French Resistance leader, Camille "Rousseau" Denis, who wanted to kill Carl Heinrich, the German officer who murdered her family.

Intercepting the Germain Train[]

Crowley and Harris team up with the 1st Infantry Division in intercepting a German armored train carrying V-2 rockets, which were being transported to France. Going near Argentan in August of 1944, Crowley and the group managed to stealthily make their way through the area until the Nazis went on alert. Despite this, Private Ronald "Red" Daniels and Private Robert Zussman managed to crash the armored train. The two were saved by Rousseau, and brought to Crowley and their division, but asked them to help her find documents from the train that could help them liberate Paris.

Liberating Paris[]

“	This is our one chance. Recruiting our inside man came at a terrible price. You are to find him and exchange your briefcase with his. Hopefully, he's obtained the explosives we'll need to blow the gates.	„

The documents allowed Crowley and Rousseau to pose as German officers to infiltrate the German occupied headquarters and garrison of Paris, and get aid from the 1st Infantry Division when called for. While Vivian drove the two to the garrison, Crowley reminded Rousseau that her guise was military attaché, Gerda Schneider, who was sent by Herr Spiegel to arrange Heinrich's evacuation to Berlin. The two managed to enter the garrison, and separated so she could find Karl Fischer, their contact on the inside to get the explosives.

Rousseau managed to kill Carl Heinrich and get the explosives from Fischer, and Crowley killed a Nazi soldier who questioned Denis. Afterward, Crowley kept over watch on Rousseau, who planted the explosives to the gates so the 1st Infantry could start the attack. During the battle, Crowley met with Daniels and the division, giving him a combat shotgun to kill off the Nazis in the room. After surviving a counter attack by the Nazi forces, the division and the French Resistance managed to liberate France from the Nazis. Crowley tells the group that theirs no turning back upon the liberation, and celebrates with Vivian. Despite Pierson's cynical reminder that the war wasn't over, Crowely asked him to give his squad the time to celebrate their victory, but Pierson responded "That's what Turner's for".
