Arthur Honeycutt is the deuteragonist of Joe Camp's 1979 mystery film by Paramount The Double McGuffin. He is a computer student who helps the protagonists stop an assassination plot.
He was portrayed by Michael Gerard.
Biography[]
He is briefly seen in the beginning, where he peeks outside his window when Billy Ray and Foster climb down a wall to follow Specks and Homer to swim in a narby pond before shutting the blinds back down. He is later mentioned by Homer when he talks to Jody about his prejudice towards him by throwing insults at him for being a "bookworm wimp".
After the boys hear about Mr. Firat's assassination plot, Specks hires Arthur to help them on their plan to stop Firat and his men, since he's an expert on computers, much to Homer's dismay. Arthur arrives and offers him a drink, including a Coors beer. Arthur reminds him about the dorm rules on alcohol and Specks asks him to help them stop Firat's plot. Arthur refuses to help them as he doesn't believe him and threatens to report them having alcohol in their room. Homer attacks Arthur until Specks stops him and finally convinces Arthur to help them, which he reluctantly agrees.
After Jody manages to take pictures of Firat and his assassins as Foster distracts them with a fire alarm, the three of them sneak into the programming room and print out information. They are almost caught by a passing security guard, but he leaves before the information prints out. Billy Ray and Foster sneak into Chief Talasek's office and manage to print out Firat's information, while Jody distracts a policeman. They learn that Firat is only known for being an illegal immigrant from a country known as Kaboor, which is in the Middle East. Arthur informs them that Kaboor used to be a dictatorship and that the dictator was thrown out in favor of democracy. They circle the evidence and they discover that Firat is planning to assassinate the prime minister, who happens to be Madame Kura.
Billy Ray and Arthur head to Michelle's school and inform Kura that her life is in danger, but Firat appears and they flee. Before they could make it to the police station, Firat appears and chases them. They make it back to their hotel, but Arthur runs out of breath and Billy is forced to dump out the evidence to give them time to escape. Arthur blames himself for letting everyone down, but Specks comes up with a plan to take Tally to the evidence instead. Specks informs Arthur that he needs to tell Tally, as he is the only one Tally would believe. Arthur heads to the police station on a taxi and informs Tally about a trunk filled with records at Firat's hotel. They arrive and Tally opens the trunk, only to find nothing. Tally confronts Arthur for deceiving him until the phone rings. Tally picks it up and holds Firat and his men at gunpoint after hearing what Specks' father said. Arthur opens the closet door and reveals Specks and Homer tied up, having tricked Firat. The police arrive and the assassins are arrested. The kids celebrate their victory and Specks shows Tally the evidence as he leaves with his friends.
