Background[]

The death of Asa's mother.
Asa was born in Japan sometime in the early 1980s. It's also inferred that her father was at one point killed by a devil as Asa was only shown to be with her mother. One day she went out jogging with her mother but a raging Typhoon Devil attacked the area. Asa and her mother ran away but Asa noticed an injured cat in the middle of the road, feeling pity for the animal she stops to rescue it. However the Typhoon Devil is mere seconds from killing Asa and her cat so her mother pushes her out of the way thus sacrificing herself to save her daughter.
With no living relatives she is sent to an orphanage for children whose parents were killed by Devils. Asa also kept the cat she rescued and named him Crambon and viewed him as the only family she had left. The Caretaker of the orphanage saw Asa with Crambon and convinced her to give him up for adoption so he can be with a loving family to which Asa reluctantly agrees. However Asa later finds out from another orphan that The Caretaker drowned Crambon in a river, Asa confronted the Caretaker about it to which she states she didn’t think it was fair Asa still had someone to call family when her and the rest of the orphans didn’t. Eventually all of Asa’s tragedies caused her to become a very introverted and spiteful, afraid of making relationships out of fear of losing them.
Justice Devil arc[]
Asa, now in high school watches her teacher Mr. Tanaka tell the class they are keeping a chicken Devil named Bucky and plan to kill and eat him to teach everyone a lesson on the value of life. Asa of course shows disdain for Bucky due to her general hatred of devils even wishing that he would die. Asa then walks to the school balcony to eat some ice cream but she is soon confronted by the class president who attempts to make friends with her but she of course rudely dismisses her.

Asa's death at the hands of the Class President.
The next day Asa learns that the class is in fact keeping Bucky as a pet much to her disdain. Later during recess Bucky and the class invite Asa to come play soccer. Excited at the prospect of being noticed she rushed to her classmates but accidentally trips and falls in Bucky killing him. The class then grows disdain for Asa for killing Bucky. The next day the class president and Mr. Tanaka visit Asa’s house and offer to take her to Bucky’s grave so they can pay him respect. However the class president soon reveals that she is actually in a relationship with Mr. Tanaka and feels jealous that Asa is getting all his attention so she orchestrated Bucky’s death and now made a contract with the "Justice Devil" to kill Asa. The Class President then uses the Justice Devils powers to attack Asa and kill her by slashing her face open. In her final moments Asa looks back at her life with regret for her pessimistic outlook and whishes she lived more selfishly. However the War Devil, spares Asa’s life by taking over her corpse and turns Mr. Tanaka into a weapon and kills The Class President.

Asa meets Yoru
The next day Asa wakes up in her bed and believes her experience last night to be a dream however the War Devil wakes her up and reveals that it was not a dream. Asa, in absolute shock pinches her cheek believing what she is seeing to still be a dream, however the War Devil mocks her for this and tells her to face reality. The War Devil introduces herself and reveals she took over her body following her death, but left around fifty percent of her brain intact, preserving Asa's consciousness. The War Devil then tells Asa that she brought her back in order to better assimilate to human society. The War Devil then demands Asa go to school and do as she says lest she take the remaining half of her brain and kill her for good.
As Asa and The War Devil walk to school Asa questions why she wants to go there in the first place. The War Devil reveals that she believes her arch-nemesis Chainsaw Man is actually attending the school incognito and she wants to find out who he is and kill him. On the way Asa thinks about how bad her predicament is and seriously considers going to public safety or a devil hunter for help. However the War Devil can read Asa's thoughts and dissuades her from doing this under the threat of death. At the entrance of the school, Asa suddenly remembers that her entire class likely still hates her for accidentally killing Bucky. Although she knows the War Devil will kill her if she doesn't listen but she starts to think death might be better than going back there. Suddenly a young man sees Asa in distress and asks if she's okay. Asa is told by the War Devil to ask him about Chainsaw Man's whereabouts in the school but Asa's is unable to form any words. The War Devil then takes control of her body and asks Yoshida about the rumors regarding Chainsaw Man's presence at the school. Yoshida reveals that he suspects Chainsaw Man to be in the school's devil hunter club. Suddenly out of nowhere the War Devil asks Yoshida to be her boyfriend much to Asa's shock and embarrassment. Yoshida brushes it off and denies her proposition. Asa asks why the War Devil asked him out to which she reveals she can turn anything that she preserves as hers into a weapon and plans to turn as many humans into weapons as she can to kill Chainsaw Man. Yoru then forces Asa to join the devil hunter club where she meets Yoshida again as well as a girl named Yuko.

Asa meets Yuko
Asa and Yuko are tasked by the devil hunter club to kill at least one devil by the end of the week to join the club. As the duo walk down the halls of the school Asa notices a group of girls from her class insulting and laughing at her, apparently still upset over Bucky's death. Asa then tries to leave the school and goes to her locker to get her shoes, only to find somebody ruined them by stuffing raw chicken meat into her locker. Completely annoyed and saddened she tries to leave the school barefooted to which the War Devil advises against as they will hurt their feet. The War Devil surprisingly feels some sympathy for Asa's plight and offers to kill the girls bullying her but she obviously declines. Yuko then catches up to her and offers Asa one her own shoes although she declines at first gives it to her anyway Asa then ends up chasing Yuko all over town to return the shoe until they end up at her house. Yuko tries to invite her inside but Asa declines this. Yuko then gives Asa her shoes and tells her if she doesn't want them she could always sell them. As Asa walks home, the War Devil questions whether or not they should sell the shoes to which Asa calls her an idiot for suggesting it.

Asa attempts to rescue Yuko.
The next day Yuko and Asa walk around the city searching for devil to hunt. Yuko then reveals that she and Asa have something in common that both their parents were killed by devils and compares the two to manga characters. Yuko them leaves to go to the bathroom, as she is gone the War Devils suggests turning Yuko into a weapon. Of course Asa is against this but the War Devil insists that they need a powerful weapon to kill Chainsaw Man and if they succeed she will return Asa's body to her. The two then argue and Asa shows annoyance that the War Devil keeps calling her "girl" and insists she call her by her real name. The War Devil agrees and tells Asa to call her Yoru from now on. Yuko and Asa enter a apartment building and encounter a Bat Devil eating humans. Asa and Yuko are then stricken with fear. Suddenly, Yoru tells Asa that she can't help and take control of her body while she is afraid thus they stand no chance of defeating the Bat Devil. Although Yoru advises Asa back away slowly her and Yuko instead run away out of fear. However a piece of debris impales and injures her leg. Yuko passes out from her injuries and Yoru suggests turning her into a weapon to take down the Bat Devil seeing as she is already good as dead. Asa however refuses and tries to carry Yuko to safety. Just as the Bat Devil is about to kill them they are inadvertently saved by Chainsaw Man whom was fighting a Cockroach Devil.
That night, Yoru throws a temper tantrum because she was saved by Chainsaw Man of all people much to the annoyance of Asa. Asa questions why Yoru even hates Chainsaw Man to which she reveals that they once battled in hell and Chainsaw Man managed to defeat her and eat apart of her body. This not only stopped any further wars from breaking out but it severely weakened her and could cause her to be forgotten entirely. Asa questions if she truly fears being forgotten but she falls asleep before she can answer. Before falling asleep herself, Asa contemplates that before she did care if she died but is grateful that Chainsaw Man saved her.

Denji revealing he is Chainsaw Man.
The next day Yoshida introduces her to a boy named Denji. They talk on the school rooftop about Chainsaw Man. Denji asks what she thinks of him to which Asa replied that while at first she hated Chainsaw Man, she is fairly neutral about him. The two then get into a heated debate about Chainsaw Man with Asa pointing out rumors that he eats people, however Denji retorts that is was only that "one time" . The debate ultimately ends with Denji revealing that he is Chainsaw Man. Asa of course doesn't believe it and calls him a loser. Yoru questions why Asa walked away as they finally found Chainsaw Man. Asa points out that Chainsaw Man would not out himself like that and calls her stupid for believing it. Yoru throws a tantrum because of the insult. Asa then quickly apologizes out of annoyance.
Later Asa visits Yuko at her house while she is healing from her injury. Yuko calls Asa "Chainsaw Woman" because she was saved by Chainsaw Man. The two decide to converse about their darkest secrets to bond with each other , to which Asa reveals that she peed herself in grade school. Yuko reveals a much darker secret; she killed her own neighbor just because he was gambling with his welfare money. Yuko then claims she made a contract with the Justice Devil and can now read minds thus she knows about Yoru and plans to “take care” of her bullying problem, ominously telling her not to go to school tomorrow. As, Asa leaves she realizes that Yuko plans to kill the bullies at school. Asa becomes intent on trying to talk her out of it but Yoru refuses and takes over her body, believing that their battle might lure out Chainsaw Man. Asa is against this plan but Yoru takes over her body to ensure Asa can’t interfere.

Asa preparing to reluctantly fight Yuko.
The next day Yoru confronts Yuko and the two fight with the latter transforming into a devil due to her contract. However, despite her best efforts Yoru realizes she can’t stop Yuko and decides to let Asa fight her instead knowing Yuko would be hesitant to fight her best friend. Asa seeing no choice decides to fight Yuko by using Yoru’s powers to turn her school uniform into a sword. Asa attempts to attack Yuko but the sword merely grazes her and she swats away the weapon. However that mere graze was enough to chop Yuko to pieces. Asa immediately remorseful for what she did begs Yuko not to die. However a mysterious girl offers to save Yuko as she is willing to do anything for her “little sister”. Yuko then resurrects and grows much larger and more powerful however as a result she accidentally knocks out Asa. While, Asa is unconscious Chainsaw Man appears and defeats Yuko. When Asa wakes up she notices Chainsaw Man has arrived and control of her body is immediately usurped by Yoru who attempts to kill Chainsaw Man. However he is saved by Yoshida causing Yoru to throw yet another tantrum for failing to kill her nemesis.

Asa and Yuko share one last laugh before their heartfelt goodbye.
That night Asa’s is awoken by a knock on her door. She finds it to be Yuko who is now permanently stuck as a devil. Yuko apologizes for her actions and reveals that the real reason she made the contract with the Justice Devil in the first place was because she wanted to be a superhero like Chainsaw Man so then people would actually like her. Before Yuko leaves, Asa offers her, her shoes just as she did when they first became friends. Unknown to Asa, however Yuko would later be slain at the hands of a man pretending to be Chainsaw Man.
Dating Denji arc[]
The next day Asa and Yoru question why their “uniform sword” was so strong and managed to defeat Yuko with just a single hit. Asa reveals that it was a gift from her late mother and the two realize that Asa’s weapons are stronger if she feels emotions of guilt from making them. Asa then mentions the mysterious girl who revived Yuko and questions if Yoru knows her. Yoru denies knowing her and claims she is just a madwoman. Suddenly the Devil hunter club president Harkua Iseumi walks up and introduces himself. The young man commends Asa for her skills during the fight with Yuko and offers her a spot as a new member of the club seeing as a one of their members died and the other is out of commission. Yoru then takes over Asa's body and asks if Chainsaw Man is among their ranks to which Haruka reveals a pull cord on his chest and claims he is Chainsaw Man. Although Asa questions the validity of his statement Yoru easily believes it however she doesn't want to pick a fight with him just yet seeing as she needs a powerful weapon to do so. Yoru then demands Asa make another powerful weapon one stronger than even her uniform sword. Asa, desperate to rid herself from Yoru agrees to turn someone into a weapon.

Asa asks out Denji.
Later Yoru and Asa scout various people as potential candidates to be turned into weapons. Yoru suggests turning a cat into a weapon but Asa would much rather do so to a human instead. Asa suggests turning someone horrible into a weapon like a thief or a criminal but Yoru points out that Asa needs to feel actual guilt when turning people into a weapon other wise said weapon will be weak so she suggest finding someone who is in the gray zone in terms of morals. Suddenly Asa spots Denji picking up used cigarette buds and recycling them into new ones to sell to homeless people for a quick buck. Asa is disgusted by his actions but notes that while he is a bad person he isn't necessarily evil, thus he might be a good person to turn into a weapon. Asa then walks up to Denji and sheepishly asks him out on a date to which Denji agrees despite their initial animosity towards each other.
The next day as Asa gets ready for her date she tries to put on a hair pin to make herself look more appealing but scraps the idea. Yoru expresses doubt that Asa can actually seduce Denji but Asa is confident she can claiming that boy will fall for any girl so long as they show them a fraction of a good time. Denji and Asa then go to a local aquarium for their date and visit the starfish exhibit and begins blabbering random facts about them. Denji is highly annoyed by this and just wants to see penguins however Asa denies this and claims that she planned everything out. Denji grows annoyed and leaves to see the penguins on his own. Asa grows frustrated at Denji and pins the blame on him for their date failing. However Yoru points out that maybe it actually her who is in the wrong and that she might be a "total bore". Suddenly the same girl from earlier appears and takes Asa's side over the matter. Asa questions who she is to which she reveals that she is the War Devil's older sister Fami a.k.a The Famine Devil. Although Yoru warns Asa not to listen to her Fami cuts Yoru off by somehow transporting the two outside. Fami claims that she won't let Asa leave the aquarium until she turns Denji into a weapon. Suddenly Denji repapers and claims that there is a problem, they are now trapped in the aquarium because of the power of the newly reincarnated Eternity Devil.
Asa and Denji are trapped in the aquarium and no matter which direction they go in it leads back to the same place much to Asa's annoyance. Denji tries to inform Asa about the Eternity Devil's power as he has dealt with it before but Asa dismisses his claims. Suddenly, Haruka and the Devil Hunter club greet them. Asa remembering Haruka's claims to be Chainsaw Man believes that if she can kill him here she won't have to turn anyone into a weapon. However she is usure if she can actually kill him without the need to turn Denji into a weapon. The gang stop inside break room which has all the needed supplies they need to survive for the time being including water and fish. However, Asa notes that they have nothing to cook the fish with but one of the hunters Nobana thankfully has a lighter. However, Asa refuses to eat fish as it creeps her out. Later on she finds Denji carrying a bag and confronts him on what's inside. Denji reveals that it contains one hundred yen inside and he is claiming it for himself. Asa is angered at Denji for blatantly committing theft and the two get into an argument and tell each other to go to hell repeatedly. Asa refuses to be as useless as Denji and remembers that she has a cell phone that once belonged to her mother. She decides to use it to call help and reaches up high to get a signal but she falls and accidentally breaks the phone much to everyone's disappointment. After a few days things start to truly get desperate. Their main source of food the fish have started rotting and soon they will all starve. Asa then asks Haruka to help as he can use his powers as Chainsaw Man to do something. However, unsurprisingly Haruka reveals that he lied and the starter on his chest was just an implant. Haruka then breaks down and begs Chainsaw Man to save them. Denji then asks Asa if she is okay. Asa claims she is hungry but she can't eat fish however. Asa then goes on an apologetic rant to Denji explaining that she was trying to turn him into a weapon. However she admits that she could not do it and it's not due to any sort of morals or fear but because she has no idea what right and wrong is. Her whole life has been a long string of attempts to avoid mistakes. However, Denji hears none of it as Asa was just muttering to herself the entire time. Denji then decides to offer her an alternative to eating fish and pulls out starfish. Using the lighter Denji stole from Nobana they manage to cook the Starfish and eat it. Of course Asa is slightly disgusted by it but eats it anyway much to Denji's amusement. Denji then notes that Asa is fun and this causes her to blush and arrogantly say she is happy he noticed. Denji then retorts that Asa's personality reminds him of an old friend then confides with Asa that the reason he has been so obsessed with obtaining money is to be able to afford his adoptive sister/roommates college tuition.
He notes that since his life has always been terrible he wants the chance to give her a better one. Asa then gets an idea to escape the aquarium. She and Denji then collect as much money as possible and appear to have noticeable fun while doing so. Asa then asks for the one million yen they collected but Denji refuses until Asa offers to grant him one request which gets him to immediately agree. She asks Denji to turn around, close his eyes and cover his ears. She uses the money to pretend to but the aquarium which mentally makes her think she owns it. She turns the aquarium into a weapon she dubs the Aquarium Spear. Yoru then takes control and uses the spear to kill the Eternity Devil. Yoru then spots Fami in the distance understanding she was behind this. Denji then walks Asa home and he states that although the date was disaster he had a decent time. For his request he asks that they go on another date and Asa excitedly agrees. Yoru then realizes that Asa has fallen in love with Denji and since they share the same brain she feels those feeling as well. However in spite of this Yoru decides to turn him into a weapon regardless but it does not work and Denji leaves. Yoru then theorizes that Denji may not reciprocate Asa's feelings. Of course Asa arrogantly claims she does not care as she doesn't like him either. However Asa questions if what Fami said about her and Yoru being sisters is true. However, Yoru discredits her and claims that she is crazy and they need to steer clear of her. As she gets ready for bed Asa voices actual disappointed that despite of her efforts she still could not get Denji to like her.
The next day she meets Denji outside the school and he offers to take her to the movies to watch a marathon of mummy movies for 2000 yen. However, Asa refuses as she would prefer not to go on any pricey dates and suggests they just watch home movies. Denji is okay with that but unfortunately Asa has no VCR. Asa suggests that they watch movies at his place but Denji is extremely reluctant however he concedes on the condition she follow the rules of the house as failure to do so might result in death. When they get to the house Denji explains the unbreakable rules. 1: Don't open the door ro any other apartment besides his own. 2: Don't open the fridge. 3: Don't make out with him in front of his roommate. Denji describes her as a huge problem child with a extreme personality. Asa is disgusted at the idea of making out with him and insists that she doesn't like Denji. (In all actuality she is trying to protect him from Yoru) She insists that Denji stay away from her as she too has rules to obey under the threat of death and he must stay away from her. She tells him that they should just watch the movie so she can leave. However all of a sudden Yoru takes control of Asa and kisses Denji on the mouth to seduce him. She tries to turn him into a weapon once more but she is interrupted by Denji's roommate Nayuta aka the Control Devil. She calls her a thief and uses her powers to control Yoru into thinking she is a dog. Denji is angered at Nayuta for doing that to "Asa" but she agrees to turn her back if Denji never see's her again. Nayuta suspects that there is something wrong with Asa and for his own safety he must stay away from her. She also tells Denji that she will be wiping her memories and make it seem like Denji stood her up much to his sadness. Yoru and Asa then wait outside the school and come under the impression that Denji stood them up. Asa is too prideful to admit that she cares and chalks her feelings for him up to hormones. Suddenly, Yoshida asks if she is okay and asks her to come with him. They go to the Devil Hunter Council Office and he offers Asa coffee. Asa is confused as to why Yoshida is wasting his time with her and begin to assume she likes him. However, Yoshida reveals that he only wanted to talk to her to inform her to stay away from Denji. However he refuses to elaborate and leaves.
Falling Devil Arc[]
After the events prior, Asa returns home in a state of deep depression, mentally unraveling. She begins to wonder if she'd be better off dead. Suddenly, a body plummets beside her. Before Asa can react, Yoru takes control and warns her that something is wrong. Looking up, Yoru sees dozens of people on their balconies, all staring down—before throwing themselves to their deaths, forming a grotesque pile of corpses. From this heap, a mangled figure begins to rise. Yoru summons the "Ruler Sword" and prepares to fight, but upon sensing the threat, she panics, drops her bag, and runs—admitting she stands no chance. The figure introduces itself as the Falling Devil. Yoru tries to reach Asa mentally, telling her only she can create weapons strong enough to fight back.Asa, meanwhile, relives a traumatic memory involving her former caretaker. Screaming in fear, she regains control of her body and finds herself falling upward due to the Falling Devil's power. She clings to a railing, barely avoiding being pulled into the sky. With Yoru unable to regain control, she urges Asa not to be afraid.
However, Asa is trapped in a spiral of traumatic flashbacks. As the gravitational pull intensifies, she loses her grip. Mid-fall, Yoru instructs her to yell "Nail Knife." Asa complies, and her fingernail tears off, transforming into a weapon. The pain grounds Asa, freeing her from fear and allowing Yoru to regain control. Now immune to the gravity manipulation, Yoru tells Asa to keep focusing on the pain and deduces that the devil they're facing is indeed the Falling Devil—with the involvement of "Fami" likely. Noticing Asa falling into another flashback, Yoru cuts Asa’s hand to try and keep her grounded. The plan backfires: Asa becomes terrified of Yoru instead. Before Asa loses control again, Yoru takes cover under a building, avoiding being pulled into Hell if gravity reverses. The two argue. Yoru is frustrated that Asa doesn’t trust her, while Asa counters that they barely know each other. She accuses Yoru of being invasive, violent, and inconsiderate. Yoru deflects by blaming the Falling Devil's influence, but Asa insists Yoru should already know how she feels, since they share a mind. Breaking down, Asa confesses her deepest fear—being alone. She longs for companionship but is haunted by the belief that everything she touches ends in disaster. Yoru is left speechless. Meanwhile, the Falling Devil declares her intent to kill them both and serve them as her "main course." She captures Asa and amplifies her suicidal thoughts. Yoru, powerless, screams in fear as Asa begins to give in—until Chainsaw Man intervenes, saving them. Despite his efforts, Asa is still pulled into Hell. A doppelgänger Chainsaw Man helps her escape back to Earth. Once back, Asa finds the real Chainsaw Man wounded and tends to him, healing his injuries with her own blood—asking him to save her.
Aging Devil Arc[]
After recovering in the hospital, Asa and Yoru argue over Asa’s growing feelings for Chainsaw Man. Their bickering is interrupted when "Fami" appears in their apartment, casually asking for bread. Fami proposes a deal: if they become celebrity devil hunters affiliated with the Chainsaw Man Church, public attention will shift away from Chainsaw Man, weakening him. Eventually, the Chainsaw Devil would separate from its human host, giving them the chance to kill the devil without harming the host. Though wary, Asa agrees to save Denji, and Yoru agrees to kill Chainsaw Man. Over the next month, Asa becomes a nationwide celebrity. The public speculates that all of Chainsaw Man's feats were actually hers. Yoru enjoys the fame, and though Asa denies it, she feels the same deep down.
Meanwhile, Denji is abducted by the government and dissected to study the Chainsaw Devil. Asa, Fami, and their team infiltrate the facility to rescue him. They even convince Samurai Sword to help, appealing to his pride in fighting Chainsaw Man at full strength. They succeed in rescuing Denji. Asa tries to help him search for Nayuta, but Denji, lost in self-loathing, admits all he wants is to protect Nayuta—and sex. When Samurai Sword offers to take him to a brothel, it gets burned down. Frustrated, Yoru takes over and drags Denji into an alley, attempting to castrate him. But Denji resists, and a memory of their kiss flashes in Asa’s mind. After kissing and straddling his privates, Yoru removes Asa's hand from his privates, with her hand covered in semen.
Following this incident Asa angrily punches Yoru to a wall and herself in disgust. Asa tries to move on and grab sushi, but news of Nayuta's death causes Denji to snap and transform into Pochita or “Black Chainsaw Man” as he proceeds to lash out at public safety. Yoru takes control to fight him, summoning the Gun and Tank Devils—revealed to be her "children"—and uses them to replace Asa's lost arms with weaponized limbs. Her attacks are devastating, causing massive casualties and horrifying Asa, who is reminded that Yoru is still a devil.
The fight is interrupted by the Aging Devi. Yoru, angry her moment of glory is being stolen, prepares to kill Denji and turn him into a weapon to get what both she and Asa want. But Asa, disturbed by the loss of life and Yoru’s ruthlessness, retakes control. Yoru, hurt by Asa’s fear, regains control briefly and fires a giant bullet at the Aging Devil—but it’s effortlessly stopped and aged to dust. The Aging Devil mocks their immaturity, stating they need to "grow up." It sends Asa into a dreamscape, a vast woodland. There, she finds a sleeping human Denji and meets a man in a loincloth, who explains they’re in the Aging Devil’s world. He once made a contract with it out of fear of aging and has now been trapped there for 82 years, unable to die or escape. The man claims she’s a hallucination and ascends a tree screaming. Asa keeps calm, remembering the Eternity Devil’s trap, and tries to manipulate the environment using her powers. But Yoru’s abilities don’t work here—not even turning a stick into a sword. When Yoru tries to shoot herself using the Gun Devil’s power and fails, Asa realizes they’re truly powerless here. While punching a tree in frustration, Yoru hears it scream. A face appears in the bark—a person merged with the tree. Asa, horrified, flees. She trips over Denji, who is still lying in the grass, Yoru took over Asa and started punching him to wake him up, breaking his nose in the process. He sobbed about how everyone who ever becomes involved with him ends up miserable, and he apologizes for it. Denji revealed that he planned to remain lying on the ground until becoming a tree, which he expressed was suitable punishment. Asa however punches Yoru and regains control encouraging Denji to continue to live and for them to find a way to escape. Denji realizes the mouths of Black Chainsaw Man and his human self connect the two worlds.
Using this knowledge, they drag the Aging Devil into its own domain, where its powers are nullified. A deal is struck, and the devil releases Asa, Yoru, Denji, Yoshida, and the Devil Hunter. Government officials complicit in sacrificing children are punished. With the Death Devil looming, all sides agree to a tense ceasefire.
Current Arc[]
Yoru regains control and kills a shop owner to claim their store as a new base. She takes Denji on a "date," which involves destroying empty buildings—something he oddly enjoys. Eventually, Asa seizes control to speak with Denji. Pointing a weaponized finger at him and then her own head, Asa breaks down, admitting she wants to die to stop Yoru but is too afraid. She begs Denji to kill her, saying Yoru’s plan to kill the Death Devil is too horrific to describe—worse than extinction. Denji attacks her with a chair in response, which she dodges. She accuses him of being a murderer, but he reminds her she asked him to do it. Asa breaks down in tears, overwhelmed by guilt and helplessness. Denji tells her that while he’s died many times, he’s never gotten used to it—and that she clearly doesn’t really want to die either. He promises to take on the Death Devil first, then deal with Yoru and the trauma afterward. Sometime after Asa gives up on thinking of the horrors of her current situation and accepts that she is a "toxic woman", now taking Denji's advice of only thinking about fun things while letting Yoru regain control.
