Personality[]
As a Charmander, he was extremely loyal and affectionate to his trainers, shown by how committed he was to wait on the rock for Damian, going back every chance he got. He also obeyed Ash's every command, and was very affectionate when Ash would pamper him. Due to Damian's influence, Charmeleon would almost always disobey Ash's command, making him almost unusable. When he evolved into Charizard he didn't have much of a change, still being almost unusable. During his disobedience phase, Charizard was also considered to be a bully to Ash's , other trainers' and wild Pokémon. However, after the disobedience phase Charizard became extremely loyal, getting stronger and showing that it can be trusted, while also showing that he loved affection just like when he was a Charmander.

Charmander's Loyalty[]
Charmander first debuted Indigo League's 11th episode, " Charmander-The Stray Pokémon". It was originally spotted by Misty, resting on a rock, while the golden trio was looking for a path to "Route 24". When he was spotted, Ash thought he was a huge Pokemon, and the intimidating silhouette, made Pikachu to scared to fight it. When they realized it was a Charmander, all of them were surprised, making a comedic scene. Ash then remembers that Charmander was a choice given by Professor Oak, and that made him want to catch it. Misty and Brock also agree, as it looked weak. However, Charmander blocked the Poke Ball, showing that it didn't want to be caught. Brock proposed the Ball to be thrown again, as it couldn't battle in its weakened state. This time Charmander got into the ball, however, he escaped.
