Atari Kobayashi is one of the main characters in Wes Anderson's 2018 computer animation movie, Isle of Dogs. He is the distant nephew and ward of Mayor Kobayashi, the former owner of Spots, and the current owner of Chief.
He is voiced by Koyu Rankin.
Background[]
Atari was born in Megasaki City, Japan to two unnamed parents. He was related to Mayor Kobayashi and descended from a bloodline of dog-hating warriors. At age 12, Atari and his parents were traveling on a bullet train that crashed, killing everyone on board, including Atari's parents. However, Atari survived the crash, falling into a deep coma and losing his right kidney as a result. His uncle, Mayor Kobayashi took custody of Atari as he was the the boy's only living relative. After Atari woke up from his coma, he was given a dog named Spots who would act as his bodyguard while becoming a ward to Mayor Kobayashi as his uncle raised him.
