~ Headspace Aubrey |
Aubrey is one of the tritagonists (alongside Hero) of the OMORI franchise.
As a young girl, she was abrasive, easy to irritate, yet ultimately had a good heart, caring deeply for her friends. However, after the death of Sunny's older sister Mari, she started to lead a dark path that lead her to become a rebellious delinquent who openly acts hostile to her former closer friends.
Appearance[]
In Headspace, Aubrey wears a plain greenish-blue nightgown, and a small pink bow on her head.
The real world segments show Aubrey wearing blue shorts, a white varsity jacket with a black crop top beneath, and a teal hairband. She usually carries around a baseball bat with nails nailed into it. She also dyed her hair from its natural dark brown to pink, and seems to wear contacts that change the color of her eyes.
Biography[]
Past[]
Sometime before the game's events, Aubrey would become friends with Sunny, Kel, Hero and Mari. And would later introduce Basil to the group. In some flashbacks, it's implied that Sunny developed a crush on Aubrey, and also somewhat implied that such feelings were mutual.
One day, everyone had found that Mari had supposedly killed herself, much to their shock and dread. Everyone reacted very differently to this event, but all these ways made Aubrey feel like they had abandoned her. One day, though. Aubrey had managed to come across Basil, managing to get him to invite her over to his house. While they were there, Aubrey had found out that some of Basil's photos were scribbled out. Believing that Basil had ruined the photos, Aubrey ended up resenting Basil and began harassing him.
Somewhere before or after this, Aubrey had made new friends in the form of the Hooligans, a group of fellow delinquents. Together, they tormented Basil for an unknown amount of time before the game's events.
Omori[]
While Sunny and Kel are exploring Faraway Town, they find Basil being told off by one Aubrey's new friends. This causes Kel to shout at the delinquent, causing Aubrey and the others to investigate the commotion. After taunting both Sunny and Kel, Aubrey challenges them to a fight. This leads to Aubrey either being attacked with a knife by Sunny, or eventually noticing that Sunny has the knife. Regardless, Aubrey and the other delinquents are forced to flee. Sunny and Kel take Basil back to his house, but before they leave, Basil reveals that Aubrey had taken his Photo Album, his most prized possession. Leading Sunny and Kel to go look for it. The two eventually learn that Aubrey went to Faraway Town's church, Kel points out how strange it is for Aubrey to be at church, but they head there to try and get the Photo Album back regardless.
When the two arrive at the church and find Aubrey, she becomes angry with them and reveals that she goes to the church in an attempt to find any sort of peace after Mari's death. This short argument leads to Aubrey trying to leave, but Kel refuses to let he do so until she gives Basil's Photo Album back. This leads Aubrey to attack them in a blind fury, causing another fight. while they are fighting, the other people at the church criticize Aubrey, eventually causing her to run off, still with Basil's Photo Album. Sunny and Kel follow her to her house, seeing her throw the Photo Album in the trash. Kel gets it out of the trash, and they return it to Basil.
The next day, Sunny and Kel go looking for Basil. Eventually hearing his cries for help coming from their old Hangout Spot. When they arrive, they find Aubrey and all the Hooligans surrounding a weeping Basil. Kel assumes that they are harassing Basil again and tells them to back off, refusing to even pay attention to their explanations. This eventually gets the attention of Aubrey, who once again picks a fight with the two of them. This time, though, Aubrey fights alongside the rest of the Hooligans. But even still, they are defeated once again.
While the other delinquents leave the Hangout Spot, Aubrey starts yelling at Sunny and Kel. She eventually directs that anger towards Basil, pushing him into the nearby lake. This forces Kel to distract Aubrey while Sunny jumps into the lake to try and save Basil from drowning. Eventually, both end up being saved by Hero, who arrived just in time to stop both of them from drowning. The three of them take an unconscious Basil home, leaving Aubrey behind at the hangout spot.
During Sunny's final day in Faraway Town, he, Kel, and Hero all enter Aubrey's house after being informed she won't come out. When they enter, they find that the house is broken down, and littered with trash. They end up finding and entering Aubrey's bedroom, causing her to yell at them once more. They notice that Aubrey still has some of Basil's photos, Specifically, ones with Mari in them. They all agree to put the photos back in their right spots in the Photo Album, reminiscing on their time together as they do. Once they finish up, Aubrey apologizes for the way she has been acting, and goes with them to check on Basil. However, they are forced to come back later after they find out that he's visiting his grandma in the hospital.
Later on, the group decides to visit their old treehouse. Before they do, they stumble upon the stump of the tree that Mari supposedly hung herself from. They all comment on the event and how it affected them, before finally getting to the treehouse. There, they find the last missing photo and put it in the Photo Album, finally completing it once and for all. After they reminisce on Mari, Aubrey suddenly rushes out of the treehouse, causing the others to follow her. They see her place a small pink pinwheel on the stump, before hearing of how she struggled with feeling abandoned by them, and also revealing why she stole Basil's Photo Album. After some reconciliations and a big group hug, they all go to Basil's house. However, he won't respond to any of them, so they decide to spend the night there. From here, the story diverges based on a few outcomes:
Not saving Basil[]
Should Sunny chose to go back to sleep after learning what really happened to Mari, Basil will kill himself. Sometime after this, everyone but Sunny wakes up and possibly tries to check on Basil again. Sunny awakens after this, and can see everyone distressed over what Basil did. Aubrey specifically askes for forgiveness from Basil.
Saving Basil[]
If Sunny goes into Basil's room that night, Basil will be shown to have become completely broken from everything that's happening to him. Eventually leading to both boys ending up unconscious. Sometime after, everyone else managed to get them to the hospital.
After managing to defeat Omori, Sunny manages to get into Basil's hospital room, where Kel, Aubrey, and Hero are. It is here that Sunny confesses to how Mari truly died, it's unknown what any of their reactions are.
