Story[]
Genesis[]
Ages ago, the Gods came together to create a new world. They argued among themselves as to who would rule it. In the end, it was Fendhar, the God of Strength, who would win the right. But Kognor, the God of Death, would not accept it. Going to the new world himself, he deceived a young farm boy named Radiel and began to teach him necromancy. Once his powers were adequate, he took control of him and took over the world by turning its inhabitants into undead.
As society slowly collapsed, a priest during the carnage found a baby lying by itself. Thinking quickly, he grabbed the child and fled into a church where a secret passage through a tomb led them to safety. That night, inside the underground cellar, he would be visited by Fendhar in a dream, who told him about the boy and the destiny he had chosen for him.
Main Plot[]
The priest raised the boy lovingly and taught him the edicts of Fendar and the destiny he had ahead of him. The boy would grow up learning the ways of the sword and the holy rites of the faithful.
One day as he and his mentor were practising combat, a loud noise was heard coming from the surface. The priest soon realised that noise meant that Auron’s time had come. He told the now man of his destiny and the secret room where Fendar left a magical sword that only Auron may wield.
After obtaining the weapon, Auron fought his way to the surface and saw the sky for the first time. He fought through hordes of undead, surrounded by the ruins of humanity that once housed the living.
Auron would find his first challenge in the form of an undead giant. While the two exchanged blows equally, the giant would gain the upper hand and the Paladin would fall unconscious.
In the land of dreams, Auron was greeted by Fendar who explained to him how the world fell apart and his destiny to defeat Radiel. He returned him back to the mortal world, with a set of armour and the ability to fly with wings conjured from his cape. Seeing the giant distracted, Auron struck him down.
As he continued on his mission, Auron encountered the talking crow, Melahn, and quickly became friends. The crow explained that Radiel was in the old catacombs and going to the front entrance was suicide. He then led him to a back entrance where Melahn was most familiar.
As they entered, the two found themselves ambushed by skeletal undead and were forced to fight through all of them. Finally arriving at the top of the catacombs, Auron was shocked to find Radiel so early. The two exchanged rebuttals, about how the world should be run. Radiel praised power, while Auron was distraught with the destruction he had brought.
Radiel ultimately came to the conclusion that Auron doesn’t really have a reason to fulfil his destiny and decided to give him one. He imprisoned him with magical spikes and forced him to watch his short term companion, Melahn, die by his hand. Still not satisfied, the necromancer raised a platform next to the paladin, revealing that the priest who had raised the hero was now just another undead like the rest of humanity. Auron tried to reason with his father figure, but found it futile and was forced to impale him on the spikes. With hatred brewing inside the hero, he rush Radiel and the two fought one another. After being struck, Auron found himself holding on for his life. Rather than let Radiel finish the job, Auron chose to jump.
As Auron fell, his cape transformed into wings and he flew back up, taunting the necromancer to chase him. He obliged and soon began chasing him on a skeletal dragon. As the two fought one another, Auron attempted to deceive his opponent by throwing a big but slow holy ball of energy at the necromancer and attacking from the opposite direction. Seeing through this, Radiel attacked Auron with a powerful attack, allowing his skeletal dragon to be destroyed.
Crashing to the ground, Auron found his hand severed from his body and his armour in ruins. Radiel mocked the paladin and pretended to help him by growing an undead hand from Auron’s severed limb. Auron used his sword to cut the undead hand as he would have no control over it.
Still mocking him, Radiel told the paladin to attack him and Auron immediately took the opportunity. He stabbed the necromancer without defiance, making Radiel quiver in pain. But soon, the anguish turned to laughter and mocked the paladin again for thinking it would have been that easy. A black smoke left Radiel’s body, leaving the farm boy dead on the ground. From the smoke, Kognor reveals himself. Having the upper hand, Kognor grabbed Auron and squeezed him, forcing the paladin to scream in agony. In his arrogance, Kognor decided to take the sword for himself, but as soon as he touched it, half of his body exploded. Free from his grasp, Auron grabbed his sword and struck down Kognor, leaving an explosion behind them.
With the God Of Death gone, Fendar had free rein to return, the land began to heal. Those who were undead would be cured and those who had been killed would be revived, including the priest and Melahn. Auron, for his part, was taken up into the heavens.
