How about "Aurora"? The Roman goddess of dawn and a cruiser of, uh, you know what...
~ Idiot names the Aurora.

The Aurora Crew is the main protagonist group of the video game Metro Exodus. Composed of defectors from the Spartan Rangers, after discovering Hanza's deceit in their role of mass execution and their fabrication of NATO invasion, the Aurora Crew later escapes Moscow through the eponymous locomotive, thus starting the events of the game.

It is led by Mel'nik, the former leader of the Spartan Rangers.

Background[]

Finding out Hanza's Deceit[]

The Aurora Crew played a significant role during the events of Moscow. After revealing that the NATO invasion did not exist whatsoever, as what it was purported, and life above the surface flourishes, the Hanza later attempts to execute Artyom and Anna for discovering this said secret.

However, after both Artyom and Anna, with the help of Andrei Ivanovich Yermak, commandeered the soon-to-be-named train, Aurora, a joint group of Spartan Rangers and Hanza led by Miller would attempt to arrest the two for their involvement.

However, when one of the Hanza soldiers suddenly betrayed Miller by ordering them a court martial, the rest of Miller's crew betrayed the Hanza for this said revelation, sparking a violent skirmish between the two divided factions.

However, in spite of Hanza's warnings against Miller's crew for their so-called "crimes", the rest of his crew later attacked the armoured train, before Artyom destroys it with an explosive. Due to their actions, they are left with no choice but to head east and find a new home, where they find a possible one: the "Ark" bunker in the Yamantau mountains.

Volga[]

After leaving Moscow behind for months, the Aurora Crew later reach the rivers of Volga, where they encounter a runaway mechanic known as Krest, who is joined by Miller, as well as rescuing Katya and Nastya from the technophobic cultists from a cult known as the Church of the Water Tsar, which is led by Silantius. Depending on Artyom's actions, Duke will be either killed by Silantius's men or not.

Yamantau[]

Just as when they reach the Yamantau mountains, Nastya immediately suspects that something is off, given the emptiness of the surroundings around them. However, Miller's fixation of finding a new home would soon rear to his own head, as soon as they enter the Ark. With Miller, Artyom, and Anna later encountering the so-called "ministers", they soon find out that it is the home of the cannibals.

Fighting their way out of the cannibal army, with the aid of Idiot and Sam, Artyom later rescues Anna from a rabid doctor who posed as a "member" of the Government, before killing him completely. In spite of killing the cannibals, the Aurora Crew are left with zero options, after their supposed home was nothing more than a den of crazed cannibals, but not before Idiot proposes a third option: Kazakhstan and the Caspian-1 SatCom, as a last-ditch effort to find a place for the crew to settle in.

Caspian[]

Reaching through the deserts of Kazakhstan, the Aurora Crew are later forced to take a pit stop, after their train ran out of water and gas. While that happens, Artyom would later set on a journey to reach an empty building, only for him to be knocked out by a member of the Munai-Bailer known as Saul, who is revealed to be a mole to the Bailer's leader known simply as the Baron. Either killing or sparing Saul, Artyom later reaches through his van, before Damir would appear to rendezvous with him. However, if Saul is spared, he would tell Artyom that he is a defector, who sides with a woman known as Giul, and he plans to take down the Baron.
