~ A pre-recorded message by Avar Kriss in a holocron. |
Jedi Master Avar Kriss, also known as the Hero of Hetzal, is one of the main protagonists of the epic space opera Star Wars metaseries Star Wars: The High Republic.
Kriss was a member of the Jedi Order considered a paragon by her peers and the citizens of the Galactic Republic alike. She grew up and was close with fellow Jedi Elzar Mann and Stellan Gios, the former of which she had a secretive romantic interest in. Like Gios, Kriss was a shining example of what a Jedi should aspire to be and was famous across the galaxy for her heroic deeds.
Nearly two and a half centuries later, during the era of the New Republic which followed the destruction of Darth Sidious' Galactic Empire, Luke Skywalker discovered a Jedi holocron that contained an interactive hologram of Kriss. In the recording, Kriss greeted the future viewers of the message and offered to guide them. At one point, this holocron recording was viewed by Jedi Padawan Hennix, who trained at Luke Skywalker's Jedi Temple before its destruction.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Avar Kriss was a Force-sensitive human female born during the High Republic era, a period of prosperity and expansion for the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order. As a child, Kriss was taken to the Jedi Grand Temple on the Republic's capital planet Coruscant to be trained in the Jedi arts. As a youngling, Kriss constructed her own lightsaber and grew close to fellow Jedi Elzar Mann and Stellan Gios. As a teenager, Kriss was taken under the wing of Jedi Master Cherff Maota as his Padawan learner.
Kriss and Elzar Mann became romantically involved during their time as Padawans, although as the Jedi forbid such attachments they kept their relationship a secret. Eventually, Kriss, Gios and Mann all passed their Jedi Trials and became fully-fledged Jedi Knights. Having matured since their Padawan years, Kriss and Mann ended their forbidden relationship. Kriss and Gios later went on to become Jedi Masters by the time they were thirty, yet Mann became stuck as a Jedi Knight due to his unorthodox methodology.
