Sir Axl is one of the five main protagonists of the LEGO Nexo Knights animated series. He is a Nexo Knight hailing from Diggington. He is among the strongest knights of Knighton and is known for his obsession with food.

He was voiced by Brian Drummond, who also voiced Merlok 2.0 in the same series.

Appearance

Axl is much taller than most of Knighton's residents and has a top-heavy body build. He wears grey armor depicting his family herald which he almost never takes off. His hair is black, and his haircut is a short mohawk.

Biography

Axl was the son of the couple running Digging Inn in the miner town of Diggington, but aspired to be a knight despite his father's objections. Only after Axl saved his father from bandits he was allowed to study at the Knights' Academy, where he met Aaron, Clay, Lance and Macy, and eventually graduated alongside them, and protected Knighton from hordes of monsters with them.

Personality

Despite his intimidating appearance, Axl is a very friendly person and gets along well even with higher-class people such as Lance or Macy. He is obsessed with food, to the point where having it stolen from under his nose is his greatest fear, and spoiling it can send him into a fit of rage.

Axl is protective of his relatives, ready to put off whatever he's occupied with for the sake of rescuing them, and taking great offense whenever he feels like they've been insulted.

Aside from his strength, Axl isn't lacking in common sense, as he was able to navigate the labyrinth created by the Book of Deception by simply applying the laws of physics.

Trivia

• His name is a pun on the word "axe", which is his primary weapon.
• While he's never seen without his armor in the series, as it's connected to his minifigure's torso piece, in the book No Rest for the Heroes he was seen shirtless while at the seaside. The in-universe reason for this is that Axl wants to always be prepared for battle.
