Azumi is the main protagonist of the manga series of the same name, Azumi, and its film adaptation. She is a young woman who was raised as an assassin along with her adoptive brothers deep in the mountains of Okudani during times of war in feudal Japan, with the mission of killing the warlords that ravaged the land after the Sengoku period.
In the films she was portrayed by Aya Ueto. In the stage play based on the manga she was portrayed by Meisa Kuroki, who also played Fujiko Mine in the live action Lupin III.
Appearance[]
Azumi is stated by many to be beautiful as a boddhitsava statue. Her looks can be deceiving however, as seen often during her missions when some enemies let their guard down around her only to be taken back by her martial arts prowess and strength.
She normally wears a sleeveless kimono and other traditional clothes from her era but her trademark look is defined by a blue cape with a collar that she wears after embracing her role as an assassin. She has jet black hair with two pointy curls standing straight that can be said to resemble a devil's horns, which is fitting for her reputation as a demon in the the eyes of her foes.
